JD CENTRAL (JD.com Thailand) is a Thai online retail platform jointly created by JD.com and Central Group of Thailand. JD CENTRAL started its trial operation in Thailand on June 18, 2018 and officially went online on September 28, 2018.



About JD CENTRAL


JD CENTRAL adopts a sales model similar to that of JD.com in China, combining self-operation and third-party sales. Its products cover categories such as electronics, fashion, home appliances, books, music and fast-moving consumer goods. So far, about 80% of users access this platform through mobile phones, and mobile phones, food, household goods and fashion are the best-selling categories.


In terms of logistics, JD Logistics has currently built three networks throughout Thailand, including large-scale, medium-sized and cross-border logistics. Through self-built and third-party logistics, JD CENTRAL's logistics has covered the entire territory of Thailand. Previously, JD's most advanced and complete intelligent warehousing and logistics center in Southeast Asia has been established in Thailand, integrating a complete supply chain service system including warehousing, sorting, transportation and distribution.


Through JD CENTRAL, JD.com will help build an efficient logistics network, provide e-commerce training, and help more small and medium-sized enterprises in Thailand develop. JD.com said that in the next 3 to 5 years, JD.com will import goods worth more than 100 billion baht from Thailand through direct procurement and cross-border e-commerce networks.


The reason why JD.com chose Thailand


1. Thailand is the second largest retail market in Southeast Asia, but retail e-commerce only accounts for a small part of the total retail sales (about 1.5%), so the market space is huge.


2. Thailand’s (mobile) Internet penetration rate is high (over 60%) and is growing rapidly.


3. According to a latest report from the Bank of Thailand, Thailand's GDP growth in 2017 is expected to be around 3.8%, which is expected to break the fastest growth rate in five years.

Sellers cannot sell through a buyer account on JD CENTRAL. If you want to become a seller on JD CENTRAL, you must apply for a merchant account by following the steps below:


1. Enter the JD CENTRAL official website. There is a "Use JD CENTRAL to sell products" option at the top. Click this option and go to the next step.


2. Fill in accurate information and submit various documents according to JD CENTRAL's requirements. After that, JD CENTRAL will begin to review your merchant account request. Please wait for the platform to contact you and give you the next instructions.


Development History


-In November 2017, the joint venture company jointly established by JD.com and Central Group was officially launched, and the two parties announced that they would launch a new online retail platform for consumers in Thailand and the entire Southeast Asia.


-On June 18, 2018, JD CENTRAL started its trial operation in Thailand.


-On September 28, 2018, JD CENTRAL announced that it will officially go online.
