It is learned that American fashion giant Urban Outfitters is preparing to strengthen its influence in the hot second-hand fashion market and plans to launch its own resale platform Nuuly Thrift. It is reported that the platform will be launched in the fall and will have second-hand clothing and various second-hand accessories for women, men and children. Not just Urban Outfitters products, Americans can also resell any second-hand product of any brand on Nuuly Thrift. Sellers who sell products on Nuuly Thrift can transfer the proceeds directly to their bank accounts or exchange them for Nuuly Cash, which will increase the value of Nuuly Cash by 10% across Nuuly Thrift and URBN series brands. Nuuly Rent is a women's clothing rental service launched by Urban Outfitters in 2019. After its launch, Nuuly Thrift will become a sister platform of Nuuly Rent. Urban Outfitters said that the two platforms will go hand in hand, Nuuly's rental inventory can also be sold on Nuuly Thrift, and the two platforms will introduce new customers to each other to expand each other's customer base. “Urban Outfitters has been in the vintage update business since its founding in 1970, and with the launch of Nuuly Thrift, we are excited that Urban Outfitters is well positioned to capitalize on and gain market share in the rapidly expanding online resale opportunity,” Richard A. Hayne, Urban Outfitters CEO and chairman, said in a statement. According to Urban Outfitters' survey data: in the past year, three-quarters of its buyers have purchased second-hand products, and nearly half of its buyers said they have sold second-hand products. Coincidentally, last week there was news that Swedish fashion giant H&M will also launch its own resale fashion platform H&M Rewear in Canada next month, which shows that the popularity of resale e-commerce has been increasing.
