According to foreign media reports, the US sports e-commerce platform Fanatics has been designated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to establish the first global Olympic e-commerce platform. The agreement will last for seven years until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
In this way, Fanatics will manage a single online store that will have official Olympic products developed by licensees and suppliers appointed by the International Olympic Committee. As part of the agreement, the American company will also obtain the manufacturing and sales rights for Paris 2024s Olympic products. Similarly, Fanatics has reached an agreement with the organizers of Paris 2024 to become the official supplier of e-commerce for the event.
The store is reportedly already live in several countries and will be launched globally next summer, with the exception of Russia and China.
Meanwhile, Fanatics has already begun producing items for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and plans to tie apparel for each event to past and future Olympics, including Atlanta 1996. The agreement includes the rights to manufacture and sell the iconic Olympic rings.
Visa is also a member of the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Partner global sponsorship program and is known as the "Official Payment Method of the Olympic Shop."
