China Post stops accepting and sending small parcels from e-commerce platforms? The truth is...

On March 24, due to the further spread of the epidemic, international air transport capacity continued to decrease. In response to the current severe situation, China Post decided to stop accepting and sending all ordinary small parcel mails from e-commerce platforms from 0:00 on March 26. In response, eBay issued an announcement to sellers.

The announcement notified that eBay's "Logistics Policy for Direct Mail to the United States for Orders Less Than US$5 and Other Major Countries" will be suspended after the evaluation date on March 29, 2020. The transaction time window for the last evaluation is March 8, 2020 - March 21, 2020.
At the same time, eBay merchants are informed to stop using postal parcel logistics delivery methods, and sellers are advised to use SpeedPAK logistics solutions as much as possible. Transactions using SpeedPAK will be protected by eBay policies; if sellers use other logistics, they must ensure that they are operating normally and that logistics timeliness is guaranteed. In destination countries where SpeedPAK services are not yet covered, eBay recommends that merchants, if they do not have reliable logistics, temporarily turn on the store vacation mode to avoid unnecessary operational risks and losses.
It is reported that China Post Ordinary Small Packet Plus is an airmail product launched by China Post for small items with order amounts below US$5 and weight below 2kg. The delivery range reaches 205 countries and regions around the world.

Due to issues with FBA during this period and the fact that sellers are afraid to ship large quantities of goods overseas, many mask sellers have shipped hundreds of orders themselves, and a large proportion of them use small packages as a means of transportation.

If it is true as eBay notified that the post office has stopped collecting parcels via E-Packet, then we Amazon sellers will not be able to send small packages either. The impact is horrible!

Regarding the news that China Post suspended the collection and delivery of all ordinary small parcel mail on March 26, the person in charge of Yanwen said that only eBay had been notified, and other platforms had not yet. Yanwen is still collecting and sending goods normally, but the postal service does have a backlog. The postal ordinary mail registered mail will not be suspended for the time being, but the timeliness will be slower. Yanwen's own products can also be shipped normally.

After this incident went viral, China Post released "A Letter from the Express Delivery Department of China Post Group Co., Ltd. to Cross-Border Express Sellers". The main content of the letter was: a temporary quota will be imposed on the collection and delivery of ordinary international small packages .



What does this mean? Some professionals pointed out that quota collection and delivery may mean that the post office will limit the amount of goods it can receive and deliver every day. There is no limit on the number of order numbers for the time being, and the specific details will be subject to the actual operation of the post office.

The small package method can achieve a very low price to seize the market of masks and other epidemic prevention materials, but if the small package logistics is blocked, this low price will become a loss! Therefore, although there is no large-scale suspension of all normal small package mails on e-commerce platforms, just in case, find an alternative route first, or simply increase the price to express delivery, and send out the goods in stock quickly and wait for further news!
