CPSC recalls 20,800 Giant bicycles due to loose handlebars, posing a risk of falling!

It is learned that on January 12, CPSC announced the recall of 20,800 Giant adult bicycles. The reason for the recall is that the adjustable handlebars on the bicycles may become loose, posing a risk of falling and injury. The recall number is 22-051

The recall affects the 2021 Giant Cypress DX, Giant Escape 3 Comfort, Liv Flourish FS 1 and Liv Alight 3 Comfort bicycles, which were sold in metallic black, dark silver, dark red/burgundy, gray-blue, plum and green.

The recalled bicycles have a serial number beginning with the letter "P" located on the underside of the frame's bottom bracket, just below the crank. The model name is printed on the top tube. Giant is printed on the down tube of the Cypress DX and Escape 3 Comfort models, and Liv is printed on the down tube of the Alight 3 Comfort model. Liv is printed on the chainstay of the Flourish FS 1 model.

The recalled bicycles were sold at authorized Giant Bicycle dealers in the U.S. and at www.giant-bicycles.com/us and www.liv-cycling.com/us for between October 2020 and October 2021 and were priced between $590 and $690. They were manufactured in the Philippines.

Giant Bicycle has received 86 reports of loose handlebars, including three reports of injuries from falls. The CPSC recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact Giant Bicycle to arrange for inspection and free repairs.
