Company Introduction

The company became independent as "Alpina" in 1954 and changed its name to "Panalpina" in 1960.

The Panalpina Group has approximately 500 offices in 70 countries and collaborates with partner companies in 100 countries, with approximately 14,000 employees worldwide.

Business Introduction

The company's four major businesses are air transport, sea transport, logistics and other comprehensive services. The development of the four businesses is relatively balanced. The air transport business, which accounts for the largest proportion, only accounts for about 40%. From a market perspective, the business is mainly concentrated in Europe, Africa and America, and the Asia-Pacific region has improved in recent years.

Panalpina's core business is integrated transport, providing integrated, customer-friendly solutions. Through integrated freight services, it positions itself between standardized transport solutions and traditional shipping companies. In addition to handling traditional freight, the group also specializes in providing logistics services to multinational companies, especially in the automotive, electronics, telecommunications, oil and energy, chemicals and other fields.

Air Sea Broker is Panalpina Group's global freight "wholesaler". It also coordinates Panalpina Group's shipping system with regular connections around the world, and also provides new services for combined transportation. Air Sea Broker is divided into three business departments: Shipping Department, West Africa Department, Chartering and Heavy Lift Department.

Swissglobalcargo is a joint venture established by Panalpina and Sairlogistics in July 1999. It is the world's first air cargo company to provide fully integrated, door-to-door, time-bound guaranteed, and weight-free services.

Main customers

Major customers include IBM, Philips, Volkswagen, General Motors and Delphi Automotive Systems.

Development History

In December 2000, it launched a customer-centric "e-commerce" platform designed to connect all operational stages of its freight and logistics operations.

On June 19, 2006, Panalpina opened a fashion distribution center near Newark Airport in Secaucus, New Jersey, USA. The fashion distribution center has more than 40 employees, 6,200 square meters of storage area and 600 square meters of office area. This large-scale distribution center enables Panalpina to handle a large number of high-end fashion products exported to the North American market.

In 2016, according to the latest "Top Ocean Freight Forwarders" ranking of Transport Topics, an authoritative magazine in the logistics industry, Panalpina ranked fifth.

In 2017, the company acquired two companies in Germany and the Netherlands respectively to expand its network in the perishable goods business.

In July 2018, Panalpina opened a new logistics center in Singapore. The new facility is strategically located in Pioneer View, Singapore, and has six floors, providing 25,800 square meters of usable warehouse space.

Acquisitions

In April 2019, the international freight group DSVA/S and Panalpina Welt transport Holding AG jointly announced that DSV officially acquired Panalpina. The new company will be named DSV Panalpina A/S, with total revenue reaching 118 billion Danish kroner (17.8 billion US dollars) and more than 60,000 employees.
