Walmart launches rewards program for Walmart+ members to compete with Amazon

According to foreign media reports, Walmart recently launched a reward program called "Walmart Rewards" for Walmart+ members. Now, Walmart+ members can earn extra savings on shopping through this program.

According to reports, Walmart offers this rewards program for free to Walmart+ members, and Walmart+ members do not need to register, use paper coupons or download an additional application. They can earn rewards when they purchase eligible items when shopping on the Walmart website or application.

It is understood that when Walmart+ members search for products on Walmart.com or the Walmart app, they will see an option to add rewards to the selected items. After the purchase is completed, the rewards will be automatically returned to the account wallet. After that, users can use these rewards to offset payments when they go to Walmart stores or websites to shop.

If shopping in-store, Walmart+ members can scan the Walmart Pay QR code and click "Use Walmart Rewards" to pay the bill minus the rewards. Similarly, online shoppers can also use this method at checkout to earn extra savings.

“We’re always committed to helping our members save time and money, and with Walmart Rewards, we’ll encourage more members to shop on Walmart by increasing their savings on the items they want and need most,” said Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+, in announcing the new program.

It is learned that Walmart has been trying to expand its position in the US e-commerce market by increasing the benefits of member users to compete with Amazon. In the past year, Walmart has held multiple promotional activities for member users; in March 2022, Walmart also announced that it would provide free membership services to employees in stores, distribution centers, and sorting centers; previously, Walmart also announced a partnership with music streaming platform Spotify to provide special promotions for Walmart+ members; in the past few months, Walmart has also added additional benefits for new member users, including a six-month Spotify premium membership; recently, Walmart has also reached an agreement with Paramount to provide the entertainment company's Paramount+ streaming service to subscribers of the Walmart membership plan.
