It is learned that as Boohoo becomes more and more popular in the United States, Boohoo has decided to launch its first distribution center in the United States. DHL will provide Boohoo, which has annual sales of more than US$2.4 billion, with first-class warehousing solutions to achieve its expected growth in the US market. DHL Supply Chain will lead operations at a new 1.1 million square foot distribution center in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, southeast of Harrisburg. The distribution center is expected to open in early 2023, and after operation, buyers in the New York City area will receive orders from Boohoo for the second time. It is reported that New York City is a major gathering area for Boohoo brand buyers. "While Boohoo has been serving US buyers through its existing delivery network in the UK since 2006, the US market has grown rapidly in recent years, making the construction of a new distribution center a new strategy to reduce transportation costs, improve service and speed up delivery," said Kraig Foreman, president of eCommerce at DHL Supply Chain. It is understood that after the warehouse is completed, DHL Supply Chain will employ 1,000 employees in Boohoo's most advanced warehouse, and it is expected to employ nearly 2,500 employees in the next three years. In addition to providing buyers with efficient sorting orders and fast delivery services through its application of emerging technologies, DHL plans to launch highly automated order delivery solutions such as automatic storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) and high-speed delivery services through its accelerated digitalization plan. This will be one of the first sites to adopt this technology in DHL Supply Chain operations and one of the most advanced warehousing solutions on the market. David James, Supply Chain Director at Boohoo, said: “We have a loyal and growing customer base in the US and we want to offer them a faster and smoother service than we currently offer in the UK. Investing in our distribution network in the US demonstrates our confidence in growing our business in this important market. We chose DHL Supply Chain as our logistics partner because of their industry-leading expertise and experience in managing highly complex e-commerce operations.
