Christmas logistics are seriously congested! USPS suspends "Priority Mail Express" delivery guarantee!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, on December 19, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that due to a surge in holiday package volumes and severe weather conditions, it will suspend guarantees for Priority Mail Express shipments from December 22 to 25.

 

"Priority Mail Express offers next-day to 2-day delivery (sent before 6 p.m.) and comes with a money-back guarantee," USPS explained in a recent announcement. "With a few exceptions, customers get competitive pricing and fast delivery every day of the year. Priority Mail Express Flat Rate allows customers to send packages up to 70 pounds to any state at the same price. Mail sent from the Post Office via Click-N-Ship service starts at $27.25."

 

In a reminder to shippers on Monday, the USPS said: "Increased package volumes and extreme weather conditions during the holiday season may affect the ability to ship all Priority Mail Express shipments. Similar to other carriers, the USPS will suspend the delivery guarantee on Priority Mail Express service from December 22-25. In fact, the USPS also highly prefers that packages be delivered to consignees in 1 day. The USPS will not refund postage unless the first delivery failed or the delivery occurred more than two days after the acceptance scan."

 

It is learned that similar to USPS, earlier this month, FedEx announced that it would suspend its money-back guarantee for peak season deliveries of air express goods within the United States and exports from the country from December 13 to January 2. Differently, UPS announced on November 28 that it would provide "guaranteed service refunds" for all next-day air packages throughout the peak season.
