Shopify increases subscription fees for new users in the U.S.! Prices will also rise in Europe!

Leading e-commerce platform Shopify has increased subscription fees for new customers in the U.S. It is expected that this fee policy change will also be implemented soon in Europe. Existing customers will notice the subscription price change within three months.

Like other tech companies, Shopify is also dealing with increasing operating costs. Last July, the e-commerce software provider laid off 10% of its employees. That’s 1,000 jobs. Shopify said the layoffs were mainly driven by operating cost pressures.

Basic subscription now costs $39 per month

New customers in the United States can already see the new prices on the website. The basic subscription now costs 39 USD (35.84 EUR) per month. New customers located in Europe are still shown the old price (21 EUR per month, billed annually).

It is learned that Shopify said that new customers can still enjoy Shopify's 3-month trial period at a cost of 1 euro. If you continue to use it afterwards, you will be charged the newly increased subscription fee. Shopify recommends its customers to choose a more cost-effective annual fee plan. If old users continue to subscribe to the annual plan before April 23, they can enjoy the old rate next year.
