According to a recent survey by RetailMeNot, an online transaction and savings platform, 32% of American consumers will buy gifts in the week before Valentine's Day, and 2% will wait until Valentine's Day (February 14). The survey also found that 40% of American consumers make Valentine's Day shopping two weeks in advance, and 11% of consumers make Valentine's Day purchases at least one month in advance. Female consumers are more likely to buy Valentine’s Day gifts in advance than male consumers. However, male consumers are more likely to buy gifts at the last minute. One-third of men will buy a gift during the week of Valentine’s Day, compared to only 29% of women. Three times as many men as women will buy a gift two to three days before Valentine’s Day (21% vs. 7%). Two-thirds of U.S. consumers plan to buy Valentine’s Day gifts.
