Ramadan decorations are hot in the US, and brands and retailers are taking advantage of the trend

It is learned that April 21 is the important Muslim festival "Eid al-Fitr", marking the end of the one-month Ramadan. From the Middle East to Europe and the United States, Muslims in most countries and regions will celebrate this festival, which has also become an important marketing node for brands and businesses.

In recent years, as the proportion of Muslims in the United States has increased, the demand for Ramadan-related products has also increased, especially decorations for celebrating Ramadan. According to the latest report from Digital360, during this year's Ramadan, many retailers and brands in the United States launched a series of decorative products, and brands specializing in selling Ramadan decorations also achieved strong sales growth.

Ramadan decoration brand: Close for half a year, eat for half a year after opening

According to reports, Days of Eid is a decoration brand founded by Muslims in the United States, specializing in the sale of Ramadan decorations. The brand's founder Reem Sayes revealed that Ramadan and Eid decorations are becoming more and more popular in the United States, and their average order value (AOV) has increased significantly.

Reem Sayes, who grew up in the United States, could not find suitable decorations during Eid and Ramadan. The only decorations she saw were Christmas and Easter. Later, Reem Sayes came up with the idea of selling Ramadan decorations, began to design products by herself, and established the brand and shopping website Days of Eid in May 2016.

At first, ReemSayes' business was not very good until 2018, when she began to notice an increase in sales. At that time, she designed a decorative lawn related to the Ramadan theme, and the product was quickly sold out as soon as it was launched online. In the first 15 days of Ramadan this year, the average order value of Days of Eid has grown to about $100.

However, the sales peak of Days of Eid is mainly concentrated in the half month before Ramadan and during Ramadan, and the rest of the time is off-season. Despite the increase in sales, Sayes said she is preparing to expand the product line to cover the demand for decorations throughout the year.

Retailers create product ranges as demand for Ramadan and Eid decorations surges

Target launched its first dedicated Ramadan and Eid collection this year, including decorating kits with crescent and lantern cutouts, as well as crafts and children's books, one of the latest signs that major U.S. retailers are catering to Muslim consumers.

Party supplies retailer PartyCity began selling Ramadan and Eid items in 2018 and has since added such products amid growing demand. In places with large Muslim populations, such as the Detroit area, it is becoming more common for offline stores to sell Ramadan decorations. According to statistics, there are currently more than 280 stores in the United States that offer such products.

However, in recent years, the trend of more and more American supermarkets selling Ramadan decorations has caused some controversy. Some consumers say that this may over-commercialize the holy festival of Ramadan. Therefore, brands and sellers should pay special attention when selling this category to avoid the cultural taboos of Muslim consumers.
