Best Buy launches real-time logistics tracking service for large items

It is learned that on August 15, according to foreign media reports, US retail giant Best Buy has launched a new feature that allows customers to track the delivery and installation of large appliances such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines in real time.

It is understood that Best Buy's new real-time tracking feature uses artificial intelligence solutions, including real-time map views, and displays the driver's location along the way. Best Buy also uses data such as predicted demand and real-time traffic patterns to strive to shorten delivery time, optimize routes, and ultimately provide customers with estimated delivery times accurate to the minute.

Best Buy said that after customers order large items and schedule a delivery date, an email or text message reminder will be sent on the morning of the delivery day, providing all the details of the delivery appointment, driver assignment, steps to prepare for delivery, and a "track progress" button that customers can click to view a real-time delivery tracking map. After the driver starts the journey, Best Buy will provide an estimated arrival time based on the number of orders and real-time location of the driver that day, and notify at any time based on changes.

In April this year, Best Buy reached a cooperation with Google Cloud and Accenture to achieve personalized customer support by introducing generative artificial intelligence technology. Brian Tilzer, Chief Data, Analysis and Technology Officer of Best Buy, said that the new function will eliminate the anxiety of many customers when waiting for the goods to arrive at home, and the technological improvement can help save more time and provide convenience.
