It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Chinese fast fashion giant Shein plans to deepen its business in the United States, open a large distribution center in the United States, and engage in crazy recruitment. On September 15, George Chiao, president of Shein's US business, said the company plans to build three large distribution centers in the United States to allow customers to receive packages within three to four days. In addition, the company also plans to recruit heavily in the United States in the next few years. It is understood that the new measure will help Shein shorten logistics transportation time. Currently, customers usually receive the goods within 10 to 15 days after purchase. Shein opened its first distribution center in Indiana in April, and is now expanding the center's footprint by 50% to 1.5 million square feet. The company plans to open a 1.8 million square foot distribution center in California in 2023, followed by a third in the Northeastern United States, but the exact date has not been determined. Shein said its growing distribution facilities in Indiana will generate $175 million in local economic impact. At the same time, Shein also stated in an announcement that by the end of 2025, Shein will add another 1,400 employees to its current 1,000 employees. The report said Shein's latest move seems to be related to its investment in new areas. Last year, Shein launched a high-end brand called "MOTF" with higher prices, and many shoppers may not be willing to wait more than two weeks to receive their goods. It is understood that Shein is currently valued at $100 billion. Previously, Shein sought to conduct an IPO in the United States this year, but now, due to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, the company is seeking to conduct an initial public offering in the United States in 2024.
