Poshmark will strengthen its platform’s AI capabilities through generative AI tools, aiming to help sellers sell more items faster, according to foreign media reports. Previously, the online fashion resale market used its Posh Lens image search tool launched in 2023 to expand its AI capabilities and has successfully indexed more than 100 million items. Poshmark's new feature allows sellers to easily take pictures of their products, or even selfies wearing clothing, and then the platform can pre-fill product descriptions, brands, colors, prices and other information based on current and historical market data, automatically generate product listings, and sellers can also edit AI-generated suggestions. In the past, consumers could use Posh Lens to find matching or similar clothing, shoes and bags just like using Google Lens. The technology took a year and a half to develop, and the next-generation AI Posh Lens is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year. The launch of this visual search technology gives Poshmark an advantage in the increasingly competitive market. Since South Korean search engine Naver acquired Poshmark for US$1.2 billion in 2023, Poshmark has begun to actively advance its AI strategy, while Naver is developing a Korean alternative to OpenAI and plans to integrate a large language model (LLM) into Poshmark to combine its data set with Naver's AI.
