Amazon launches new plan to eat into third-party sellers' market?!

Amazon launches new plan to eat into third-party sellers' market?!

Do you Amazon sellers have this feeling? Whether it is Amazon's vigorous development of its own brands and products, or its various support plans for suppliers, it seems to be sending a signal to us sellers - Amazon is going to go it alone after it becomes big.

Even the little clone had heard a big guy say this before

Now, if third-party sellers sell something well, Amazon will contact the suppliers and directly sell its own brands, and then rely on strong support to crush third-party sellers. In this way, Amazon has successfully transferred the risk of product selection to the sellers, and everyone is working for the platform.

Although the boss's words were a bit extreme because he was filled with indignation, this situation does exist. Amazon is gradually encroaching on some markets that originally belonged to third-party sellers.

Now, I, the little clone, have received feedback from enthusiastic students.

In terms of "taking over" the seller's products

Amazon has come up with a new trick

Let’s take a look at the email Amazon sent him.

The entire text is quite long, so I will simply condense it for you. The general meaning is as follows.

Amazon has discovered that some of your products are good and that consumers in the global market have demand for these products. However, you may only sell them in one (or several) sites, so it is difficult for consumers who do not have a store site to access your products.

Amazon now offers a program for such sellers (it has been successfully tested in Europe and is now gradually opening up to US sellers)

Amazon can move your product listings to your site where you don’t have a store. Amazon will be responsible for uploading, translating, and pricing. If an order is generated, Amazon will be responsible for purchasing from you and shipping it to the customer who placed the order.

Sellers do not need to do anything extra to participate in this program, and there are currently no additional fees.

What kind of operation is this?

Amazon officially transfers your listing directly

And then they treat you as a supplier?!

Compared to the "takeover" method I mentioned at the beginning, this plan looks much better. Instead of competing directly with sellers, it can open up another market for sellers without the sellers having to worry about anything else.

But if you think about it carefully, Amazon still seems to be the biggest beneficiary.

First, there is no cost for product selection and testing. Just use products with good market performance. Second, and this is the trickiest thing about Amazon, only when customers place an order will Amazon purchase products from sellers and send them to customers. This way, Amazon does not even have inventory pressure. Stockpiling? Overstocking? Unsalable? None of these exist.

This plan is quite similar to the way our domestic e-commerce plays, drop shipping. However, it is us sellers who ship the goods, and it is the platform that makes the difference.

I am only targeting Amazon when I describe this plan in such a bad light. For ordinary sellers like us, this plan still seems to have some advantages. Because as Amazon mentioned in the email, it is very complicated to open a store and sell products on another site (and the official order prohibits multi-store operations).

Although participating in this plan is not conducive to your future development in other sites, it can bring good profits in the short term without diverting your experience and increasing costs.

So if you receive this invitation, you can decide whether to participate based on your future plans for your store and products.

If you like to stay in a corner and focus on studying and developing one or two sites, it would be icing on the cake if you can participate in the program to earn some extra money.

However, if you want to build a brand with these products and promote them to various sites in the future, you should not be obsessed with the small profits in front of you.
