Amazon's new changes have caused public outrage! The official bans all sellers

Amazon's official forum has always been a magical place. It has low activity and basically no sellers visit it, but Amazon is extremely concerned about this forum and any updates and news will be posted in the forum as soon as possible.

But what Amazon didn’t expect was that as soon as it released an update on the forum yesterday , it was immediately overwhelmed by overwhelming negative reviews from sellers. It even got to the point where Amazon couldn’t control it and directly banned the entire official forum!

Forum notification content: From 11 am to 8 pm on the 19th, the forum will be in read-only mode (no replies, comments, etc.)

What changes made sellers so angry that it was so serious that Amazon had to ban sellers to stop everyone from discussing it?

01

What are the contents of this change?

First, let’s take a look at what this update announcement that caused public outrage said.

The gist of the content is that Amazon has released a product title specification, and any products that do not meet the title specifications will not be displayed in the search results.

There is nothing wrong with Amazon using certain standards to regulate the data uploaded by sellers.

The specification content is as follows. For your convenience, I have put a screenshot of the Chinese version of the background. I will point out some differences from the English original (thanks to the loyal fans who pointed out to me that the translation of the Chinese version of the background may be misleading)

These standards may seem normal at first glance, but when combined with our daily operations, you will find that these requirements are really weird.

02

What situations are likely to lead to violations?

Let me give you a few examples.

1. Articles (the, a) cannot be capitalized, but Amazon sometimes automatically adds a capital “the” to the product title. In this case, the seller will be banned from searching even though he has not violated the rules.

2. If the seller registers a brand using all capital letters (or with hyphens), it will be automatically added to the title. How is this situation calculated?

3. Require that the Arabic numeral 2 be used instead of the word "Two". The same problem applies: if the product or brand itself contains a number, wouldn't it be a mess if all of them had to be changed to "2"?

There are too many examples like the one above where grammar, sentence fluency, or even brand/product name changes have to be sacrificed in order to comply with Amazon’s title specifications.

Moreover, Amazon currently does not provide a complete reminder and modification function, which means that even if a seller’s title is banned from search due to violations, the seller himself may not know about it.

Even if Amazon knows about the violation, it will not remind the seller where the violation is specific and ask the seller to make modifications and display it again.

In addition to the above mandatory regulations on titles, this update also has an additional content that has an equally huge impact on us.

03

Not allowed to enter the warehouse if it does not meet the regulations?

At the same time as releasing the title specifications, Amazon also released additional regulations for FBA products.

The product title marked on the product label sent to the FBA warehouse must be exactly the same as the actual product title, otherwise it will be refused entry.

That is to say, every time the title is updated, the label must be reprinted when replenishing. Even when the FBA shipment is in the shipping picture, the seller cannot modify the title of the replenished ASIN.

Not only that, we all know that the titles on printed labels are not fully displayed, and ellipsis will be used in the middle. If it must be completely consistent, does it mean that the seller must change the title to the same as it is on the title?

▲The title in the tag is incomplete and there will be an ellipsis in the middle

Not only do mandatory rules mess up sellers’ titles, but there is also no complete review-reminder-modification mechanism.

Countless sellers reported these issues to Amazon in the forum, but the official did not come forward to explain, and even banned the entire forum directly, making all the sellers in the Amazon forum angry.

This announcement has also received the highest popularity in the official forum in a year, with nearly 350 sellers stepping down on this announcement, about 50 more than when I first wrote the article.

Amazon will just get away with it if there isn’t too much opposition, and sellers have suffered this many times. The last advertising budget bug was just like that. If it weren’t for the various cases and complaints from sellers, Amazon might not have refunded the money in the end.

This time we sellers also need to work together

Let Amazon know

Its unreasonable policies will be voted with the sellers’ feet!

Please open the backend, switch to the English interface, and give this announcement a thumbs up. Let us put a red flag on the official forum!
