Amazon delivery is disrupted on a large scale! American protesters besiege the White House!

"Sadness and anger swept across America, and countless people took to the streets to call for severe punishment for the police involved."

——CNN

Starting from the 26th of last week, the "chokehold death incident" has set off a violent wave of social unrest in the United States, and protests and marches against this incident are intensifying.

Cause of the "Choke Death Incident"

The incident was caused by a black youth, Floyd, who was suspected of using a counterfeit $20 bill. After the store owner called the police, the police arrived at the scene and pinned Floyd to the ground (Floyd did not escape or resist). During the suppression, they used an extremely dangerous posture such as knee locking his throat, and completely ignored Floyd's cries for help and explanations, which eventually led to Floyd's death from suffocation.

After being strangled and having difficulty breathing and becoming unconscious, Floyd helplessly called out "Mama", and this cry for help to his mother completely ignited American society. Since the 26th, protests against this incident have erupted in more and more places, with people taking to the streets to demand severe punishment for the police involved and to rectify police violence and racial discrimination.

Trump administration adds fuel to the fire

The Trump administration’s response to the escalating protests was also shocking. Instead of coming out to appease the protesters, it strongly supported the local police’s violent suppression and asked the state government to dispatch the National Guard. It also used a notorious racial slur: “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

*This sentence comes from a racist official in the United States.

He strongly supported the policy of apartheid before stepping down.

This tweet of Trump was also labeled as "glorifying violence" by Twitter officials and was folded so that the specific tweet could only be seen by actively clicking on it. This was also the first time that Twitter had hidden Trump's tweet.

This approach, which added fuel to the fire, escalated the march into a violent protest, with angry marchers beginning to attack police and smash stores.

Violent protests began to spread

Under the indiscriminate suppression of the police and the "reverse operation" of the Trump administration, the demonstrations began to gradually escalate. First, the protesters began to surround police cars and smashed their windows.

Afterwards, protesters from all over the country poured into Minneapolis, where the incident took place, and set fire to the local police station. Surrounded by angry crowds, no firefighters came to put out the fire. The fire burned all night, and the entire police station building was reduced to ruins.

After Minneapolis, large-scale marches and protests broke out in nearly 40 states and cities. Even the capital Washington was no exception. The protesting crowd directly surrounded the White House, holding up signs that read "Give Floyd Fairness" and constantly attacking the police defense line outside the White House.

This tense situation made the US government feel like it was facing a serious enemy, and Trump even had to take refuge in the White House bunker.

The bunker is called the Presidential Emergency Operations Center and has appeared in many movies. When the White House is attacked or faces a nuclear war, the president needs to hide here to control the situation. I never expected that the first time I saw this bunker in real life was because of the civil unrest in the United States.

Riots and demonstrations are always accompanied by a lot of looting

The United States has been in dire straits these past two days. Not only has the violent marches caused damage, but there are also large numbers of people taking advantage of the situation to loot.

Dozens of offline stores of Walmart and Target were smashed and looted, and they announced the closure of offline stores. Target closed 71 stores in Minnesota and at least 12 stores in New York and California. Walmart also closed more than 100 stores across the United States.

Express delivery trucks that may have stored goods were also targeted by the thugs. Both Federal and Amazon's own Prime logistics were hit, and photos of Prime trucks being looted were also leaked online.

Amazon also immediately closed its Whole Foods supermarkets and then sent warning notices to delivery drivers, advising them to immediately stop delivering packages and protect their own safety. The notice has been sent to drivers in more than a dozen cities including Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Miami.

An Amazon spokesperson later said that Amazon is closely monitoring the situation and has reduced delivery volumes in relevant areas. In several cities where protests are severe, such as Chicago and Los Angeles, Amazon has chosen to directly close local FBA distribution centers.

"We are actively monitoring the local situation and providing drivers with safer delivery routes."

Now the United States has implemented curfews in 40 states, and tens of thousands of National Guards have entered the states to patrol and maintain order. Although the offline losses caused by this protest are great, such a riot without organization and planning will not last long.

After the riots are suppressed, it will take time for the looted and damaged stores to recover. At that time, consumers will still have to choose Amazon for shopping, so our sellers will have another wave of order peaks after the riots are over.
