Prime Day: Beware of the Losses of New Policies after the Big Sale

Next Monday is the much-anticipated Prime Day! This year’s Prime Day is going to be incredible. Recently, foreign media have revealed that this year’s Prime Day will be another record-breaking event, with sales expected to exceed $11 billion!

Last year's Prime Day was postponed to October due to many obstacles, but the effect was amazing, with sales reaching 10.4 billion US dollars, the first time in the history of Prime Day that sales exceeded 10 billion. At the same time, because Prime Day was too close to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the effect of Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year was very dull.

Last year's Prime Day sales of 10 billion absorbed part of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday traffic, which would only reach the peak. This year's Prime Day is even more than half a month earlier than in previous years. Some people will definitely worry that the effect will not be as good as last year. However, Adobe's forecast this time is a reassurance to everyone. Adobe's statistical style is still relatively conservative. At least this year's Prime Day effect will definitely not be worse than last year.

However, there will be a big change in this year's Prime Day, that is, the absence of top sellers. In last year's Prime Day, top sellers were the biggest growth point. Several Amazon sellers with sales of more than 1 billion US dollars drove 24% of the overall growth, while small and medium-sized sellers with sales of less than 10 million US dollars only had a 14% growth.

In the past month, Amazon has taken action against three top sellers, Aoji, Mpow and Zebao, and removed all their products from the shelves. This means that the top products in some categories will be absent from this event, and the massive orders and traffic will definitely be shared by other top sellers. However, the size of these top sellers is incredible, and small and medium-sized sellers are expected to get some dividends from the absence of the top sellers.

This year's traffic is likely to be greater than last year, but it is important to make corresponding preparations and operations on the Prime Day. Also, please note that Amazon will implement a very disgusting new policy after the Prime Day, and the backend has recently reminded sellers to pay attention in the announcement.

New refund policy after membership day

After the massive orders on Member Day, the biggest headache for sellers is the return issue. After the impulsive shopping during the big sale, consumers usually calm down and start returning goods in large numbers. This return wave usually occurs within one to two months after the big sale. Amazon announced in the background yesterday that starting from August 17, Amazon will automatically authorize US return requests that comply with Amazon's return policy.

Sellers will only be prompted for manual authorization if the buyer's return request exceeds the policy scope or category exemption.

And for return requests for self-delivered orders shipped internationally, sellers must provide a local return address in the buyer's country/region (domestic return) or a return mail label with prepaid international return shipping so that the buyer can return the order from the local area to the seller's location. If neither of the above two situations can be completed, Amazon will automatically refund the buyer and deduct the order amount from your seller account.

This situation has increased the sellers’ return costs several times, so a large number of sellers are opposing this policy in the background. Amazon may make some fine-tuning before it is officially implemented.
