Walmart sellers beware! Phishing emails reappear, beware!

Walmart sellers beware! Phishing emails reappear, beware!

With the development of technology, online fraud has become more and more diverse. For cross-border e-commerce sellers, besides copycat sales, the most annoying thing is phishing emails. Recently, many sellers received emails disguised as Walmart. These emails are almost "identical" to the official platform emails, which have pitted many sellers.

Recently, one of our students posted such a message in the communication group, which attracted the attention of many sellers in the group, calling on everyone not to believe this phishing email. Some sellers also said that they had received this email.

The email content is as follows:

Thank you for being a member of Walmart Marketplace. As noted in previous communications, in accordance with applicable law, you are now required to confirm your contact and related information in order to continue to participate as a seller on Walmart Marketplace.

This message is to inform you that we are unable to verify the customer service phone number. Please update the following step by step. Please download the "Walmart Brand Portal rar" and fill in the information. If this does not work, please try turning off the Defender antivirus protection in Windows Security.

If any issues still occur, you can reply to us with a screenshot of the error. Please submit this information within the next three business days to remain compliant. Failure to do so may result in action against your account. We appreciate again your willingness to provide this information so that you can continue to sell on Walmart Marketplace.

We then asked Walmart's investment manager whether the information in this email was true or false, and the answer we got was: Fake!!!

In addition to this email, there are also many phishing emails pretending to be Walmart's official addresses. For example, there is an email asking sellers to provide a payment account statement with their names, and this email really looks the same as Walmart's official email, whether it is the tone, format or address, which makes some sellers scared. It can be seen that sellers really need to verify again and again and seek confirmation from multiple parties before they can identify the authenticity of the email.

How to counter phishing emails?

For emails that are only received in the mailbox and not on the backend page, it is best for everyone to be vigilant and verify whether it is an untrustworthy email through multiple channels. The above phishing emails require sellers to download files and submit their contact information and related information, but usually the submission of information is done on the Walmart platform, and it will not jump out of this platform to operate. Therefore, it is best for sellers to confirm with customer service.

Emails like these are generally similar, and the reasons for using them are nothing more than:

1. The seller’s account will be frozen by Walmart;

2. Important customer news;

3. Confirm the seller’s Walmart account;

4. The seller’s Walmart account has been closed;

5. Security issues of the seller’s Walmart account;

6. The order has been cancelled, etc.

Do not enter your account password at random. If you encounter any uncertain email information, please contact the official website in time. And if it involves account security or information issues, you should check it yourself and do not blindly follow the email prompts!!!

When logging into your account, be sure to access the page from the official domain name to ensure authenticity. Do not click, download, or run suspicious email attachments and links. Also, do not bind too many programs and websites that require API interfaces to prevent information interference.

But everyone should always remember that the real Walmart official will not ask you for your personal information so easily and carelessly, but the criminals will ask you for your bank card information or your account information in a roundabout way. Some will link the email to a phishing website, and once the seller clicks on it, they will be "naked" and everything will be gone.

To deal with such fraudulent emails, you still have to rely on the circulation of information . If you know about such scams early, you can easily see through them.
