Reviews are dead! Just now, Amazon officially announced...

On Christmas Eve, my brother-in-law came again with his "surprise"! Recently, a seller received an email warning from Amazon, the content is as follows:

Dear seller, we understand that you are being compensated for seller reviews! Amazon strives to maintain customer trust and provide the best shopping experience. Once we learn of sellers manipulating reviews, we will investigate it, which includes offering compensation in exchange for reviews! If this continues, your account will be deactivated!

Many sellers were affected

More than one seller received the same content. Many sellers were affected and everyone felt very complicated!

I arrived early in the morning and received it. I was confused and worried!

I received it too, but it was from Germany, but we didn’t send it out for testing much!

I received it as well. I'll tell you about the situation of this store I received it from. The comments were deleted three or four times, but the order volume was OK, and some were sent for testing. Then I received it from this store, but not from other stores. Other stores also sent for testing, and some were deleted. I just don't know which store under which label will receive this email!

Why did I receive a fake order warning?

Why did Amazon suddenly issue a warning about fake orders? Sellers have different opinions, but the following one is the most reliable at the moment!

A foreign guy said that his friend who works at Amazon told him that Amazon is testing a new feature that is specifically used to detect 5-star reviews of Chinese products. Once an abnormality is found, it will be automatically deleted! Amazon has already held a seminar on this project, and this project will be implemented permanently!

This is a project specifically for 5-star reviews. Reviews of other star levels will not be affected! Sellers are advised to adjust the ratio in future reviews. You can use a combination of 30% 5-star reviews and 70% 4-star reviews to avoid the risk of being blocked!

In addition to the reasons for the warning, sellers also speculated as follows:

1. Because there was no proper planning for the test and the evaluation was too regular, Amazon became alert!

2. Conflicts arise when cooperating with foreign reviewers and they are maliciously reported, such as refund disputes and description disputes!

3. Amazon is sending out mass phishing emails. Don’t be overly alert. Just stay out of the spotlight for now!

Anyway, no matter what, this is a sensitive period for reviews. My brother-in-law is trying every means to control negative reviews, and sellers should be as restrained as possible!

The site review is blocked

Speaking of controlling fake reviews, my brother-in-law recently made important changes to the review request feature on the site! In early November, Amazon released a new feature called “Request Review”!

The feature description says: We don't need you to ask buyers for reviews yourself, we will provide this feature for you for free. If you want buyers to comment on this order, just click this button instead of emailing them! When you initiate this feature, we will help you send an email to the customer asking them to comment.

This introduction clearly shows that Amazon does not want sellers to contact buyers! Sure enough, Amazon further strengthened this policy soon after!

At the end of November, Amazon released a news release about “communication guidelines to be changed”, the details of which are as follows:

Effective December 3, 2019, sellers may contact buyers only to process orders or respond to customer service inquiries. Sellers may not contact buyers for any marketing or promotional purposes, including by email, mail, telephone or other means.

In addition, there is a yellow section below this notification, which reads:

This means that it will no longer be possible for sellers to put gift cards or review request cards in product packaging . If reported by buyers, they will face the risk of having their account blocked.

Off-site reviews are not easy to take

Since the on-site reviews don’t work, is it possible to find off-site reviews? I’m afraid it’s not an easy option either! According to relevant sources, Amazon and Facebook are planning an agreement, and all reviews transferred from Facebook to Amazon will be monitored!

I personally think that the authenticity of this statement is still to be verified! After all, if Zuckerberg agrees to this approach, then it is very likely that he has violated the privacy rights of users. Given the temperament of Americans, a collective prosecution is too much for anyone to handle! However, it is not ruled out that Amazon and Facebook will cooperate in other ways!

Amazon has gone to great lengths to control fake reviews. In recent years, Amazon's methods of checking fake reviews are also varied:

Common ones are:

1. Check the buyer’s account to see if there is confusion in the purchase of products or a high review rate.

2. Check whether the buyer has multiple accounts and the same IP to place orders.

3. The seller’s order-brushing software is unstable, resulting in abnormal orders being detected by Amazon!

4. Check the delivery addresses of different accounts of the buyer. If the delivery addresses are too concentrated and the buyer buys from the same seller multiple times, then it’s game over!

Less common ones are:

Amazon employees transform themselves into phishing law enforcement officers, disguised as order-brushing agents or reviewers, lurking in social forums such as Facebook to investigate order-brushing activities. Once someone posts a seller's order-brushing link, the seller has no choice but to accept the consequences!

It is said that if you do not fake orders on Amazon, you will die, and if you do fake orders, you will die. If this trend continues, how can it be possible to be killed by Amazon first? In the future, if sellers want to request reviews, I am afraid they can only start from the official "Request Review"! As for whether "Request Review" brings good or bad reviews, it depends on the quality of the product! Therefore, it is time for cross-border sellers to change their operating mentality!
