I used the official review request function, and got 5 one-star negative reviews overnight.

On November 12, the “Request a Review” function suddenly appeared on the order details page of Amazon’s backend. If you use this function, Amazon can help you send review request emails to buyers.

Just when the sellers wanted to try this feature, they found that it had disappeared. The sellers speculated whether this feature was still in internal testing.

But on November 15, sellers were pleasantly surprised to find in the background that this function had returned.

How effective is the official review request?

After the official review request feature came out, sellers were full of expectations. They no longer had to spend a lot of effort writing review request emails, nor did they have to worry about risking violating regulations when asking buyers for reviews.

But what is the effect of the official review request? Is it honey or poison for sellers?

A seller reported that after using this function, a review with a score of 4.5 was posted:

But at the same time, there were also sellers who received four or five one-star bad reviews overnight after using this feature.

It seems that this function may not necessarily bring the positive reviews that sellers wish, so some sellers simply give up using this function.

But Chenzi feels that as long as you pay attention to avoid a few minefields, you can still make this function play its role.

What should I pay attention to when using official review requests?

1. Ensure product quality before asking for reviews

The premise for using this function is to ensure the quality of the product. If you are not confident in the quality of your product, do not ask for reviews.

The first thing you should do is to improve the quality of your product and use this feature only when you have enough confidence, otherwise you will most likely receive negative reviews.

2. Don’t take too long to ask for reviews

Although the official requirement is to send a review request email within 4-30 days after the order is delivered, it is still recommended not to extend the time for review request too long. It is best to request a review within two weeks after the order is delivered.

Avoid problems that may occur during the buyer's use of the product over a long period of time, leading to the buyer leaving a bad review.

Moreover, as time goes by, buyers’ desire to leave reviews will decrease, so asking for reviews will not be effective.

Therefore, how to control the time for requesting reviews is also an issue worthy of sellers’ attention.

3. It is not recommended to use if the order volume is too large

Currently, to use this function, sellers need to click the review request button for each order one by one.

If you have too many orders, doing this will be too time-consuming, and the results cannot be fully guaranteed, and the time cost is too high.

Therefore, if you have a large order volume, you need to carefully consider whether to use this function.

4. Don’t use the secondary click feature

Some sellers find it too troublesome to click one by one to request reviews, so they use "Touch Wizard" to record scripts to automatically click to request reviews.

However, some sellers have reported that after using the assisted click method, they received a small red flag from Amazon that night saying that the reviews were manipulated.

With Amazon's powerful data monitoring function, any operation of sellers may be recorded by Amazon, so sellers should not risk violating the rules by using the automatic click function .

As more and more sellers use this feature, buyers will receive more and more emails requesting reviews, and may later directly regard such emails as spam.

Just like the text messages we usually receive from Taobao asking for reviews, most people will simply choose to ignore them.

Therefore, sellers who are fully confident in the quality of their products can try it out while this function is just released.
