Amazon India starts accepting orders for non-essential items

Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm Mall have started accepting orders for non-essential items in India as the government eased the nationwide lockdown that had been in place since March 24. E-commerce companies can now deliver non-essential items only in the country's marked green and orange zones. Marketplaces report that thousands of sellers have received orders for such goods. Most of the orders received are in the apparel, electronics, household and home products categories.

EU organization accuses Amazon, eBay and others of selling products that do not comply with safety laws

The European Union's largest consumer group said online marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay should be held liable for any defective and unsafe goods they sell, as Brussels prepares to overhaul its rules for internet platforms.

The European Consumers' Organization ( Beuc ), which represents consumer groups in 32 countries, has accused online platforms of selling a variety of goods that do not meet EU safety standards.

In a February test of 250 electrical appliances, toys, cosmetics and other products from Amazon, AliExpress, eBay and Wish , two-thirds failed European safety laws.

Prime Day may be delayed until August

Recent reports indicate that this year's Amazon Prime Day may be postponed to August . However, Amazon has not commented on this news.

Amazon is reportedly facing a potential $100 million loss from excess devices, which may now be sold at a discount. This inventory does not change over time, and new generations of Kindle and Echo devices are released frequently, and excess old inventory is a burden for Amazon. Amazon also has a large number of private label brands, some of which are must-haves in high-demand categories such as batteries and snacks, but the hundreds of clothing and home furnishings brands operated by Amazon may also now have excess inventory.
