Amazon sellers are shocked! Cross-border parcels are being sold at a low price again, and your lost parcel is among them!

What I never expected is that the frequency of cross-border parcels being sold at low prices is getting higher and higher!

I still remember that at the end of July, the news broke that "a large number of unopened cross-border parcels were sold at low prices at night markets". Parcels that were supposed to be sent abroad appeared on street stalls. No matter what was in the parcel, you could take it away for only 13 yuan , which made the sellers feel heartbroken!

At the beginning of September, the incident happened again, and a large number of cross-border parcels were sold by freight forwarders at a low price of 18 yuan per kilogram .

At that time, they were even broadcasting the unpacking of packages, and most of the products in the packages were prohibited items such as scissors, toy guns, and ping-pong balls.

Unexpectedly, now in October, cross-border packages are once again being resold on Douyin. From the live video, it can be clearly seen that the packages are marked with information points such as "Yanwen", "Huadong BULE", and "Wanse", and 12 pieces only cost 50 yuan .

According to the tracking number shown in the video, a seller found that the package was generated on November 24, 2019, and the status remained at "shipped from EPC warehouse" on December 22, 2019. Another parcel tracking number was also found to be a parcel from the previous year.

So where do these cross-border packages come from? The Douyin seller said that these are all foreign trade returns, all from formal channels, and are taken back from traders .

Seeing these packages, cross-border e-commerce sellers were excited.

Seller A: I saw the package from my previous company in the video.

Seller B: I didn't expect that the items that were refunded would suddenly become blind items for other people's stalls. I finally figured out where the refund rate of nearly 20% came from. Why did they receive the goods but not send them out?

Seller C: To be honest, all my refunds go to this warehouse.

Seller D: I have sent an email to the Commerce Bureau to report it (the appeal in the email is that the people who resell the packages in the short video should be punished by law, and I don't want it to be left unresolved. I have called the police on Wanse Express and ordered Wanse Express to introduce rules and regulations to prevent reselling of packages.)

Regarding the East China warehouse mentioned on the package delivery note, a seller said that he sent two sacks of goods in March, but there was not even any collection information, and finally he forgot about it because he was too busy.

Some sellers also revealed that Yanwen Logistics lost several large items of theirs in May. They applied for compensation but have not received any compensation so far .

For cross-border e-commerce businesses, it is common for goods to be lost. Especially in this year's chaotic logistics, the problem of lost goods has become even more serious.

A seller told me that he sent a shipment of goods worth RMB 40,000 through a freight forwarder on May 20, and it was shown on June 14 that it had arrived in the United States and was delivered by UPS. However, he waited until June 24 to receive a reply from the freight forwarder that " UPS has delivered it, but missed scanning, and will not update the logistics information later ."

There have been media reports before that a seller sent 194 items to the Amazon warehouse, but the number of items signed for by the Amazon warehouse was very different from the number of items sent by the seller. Amazon only allowed an application for investigation of 49 items, and the backend showed that Amazon had not seen the other 145 items .

Now the question is, if the items are lost at the last stage, where do they go?

Previously, there were media reports that an American auction website called "GovDeals" cooperated with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to specifically auction online those USPS shipments that could not be delivered normally .

Cross-border parcels being sold at a low price has happened again and again. What is the reason? And what can we do to avoid this from happening?

01

The logistics industry is full of mixed bag of people, some people use the name of freight forwarding to defraud goods

These cross-border parcels that are sold at low prices are most likely obtained by someone who uses the name of a freight forwarder to defraud the goods and then sells them at low prices.

When choosing a freight forwarder, sellers must check the other party's business license and other relevant qualifications. It is best to conduct an on-site inspection. Freight forwarders that are contacted through WeChat or other online methods and have never met should not be easily trusted. Do a good job of relevant inspection.

The entry threshold of the freight forwarding industry is very low now. Anyone with channels can be a freight forwarder. At the same time, the supervision of government departments is not in place, so sellers must be cautious when choosing a freight forwarder.

02

Lack of platform supervision

Putting aside the abnormal factors such as the above-mentioned fraudulent goods, for normal lost items, the most direct person responsible is definitely the logistics company, and they should also bear the compensation for lost items.

However, the fact is that the frequent occurrence of lost items reflects a big problem, that is, there is a major lack of supervision on the platform.

03

Sellers always choose low-cost freight forwarders

As the saying goes, “cheap goods are not good goods.” Although this statement is not completely correct, it is not without reason. In many cases, sellers are cheated by the low-price freight forwarders they choose .

Industry insiders have previously reported that some sellers often ask about the self-delivery information of some small overseas warehouse companies they use, and that the logistics information is always slower than that of others, and that items are often lost .

In order to attract customers, some small overseas warehouse companies will quote lower prices than the official website. But in fact, the prices on the USPS official website are the same for everyone. In order to make up for the price difference, they will use intermodal transportation, which will increase the loss rate and make delivery time less guaranteed.

Frequent lost parcels will surely have a serious impact on the brand credibility of the logistics platform. Sellers may be discouraged and stop doing cross-border e-commerce and Amazon! In serious cases, the Amazon platform will no longer have traffic, and the sales of the sellers who are still doing Amazon will be even worse!
