There is only one week left until New Year's Eve. Many cross-border sellers have already started their holidays. Those who haven't yet started their holidays probably aren't focusing on their work. I wanted to have a happy new year in peace, but I didn’t expect the logistics to cause trouble again !
It would be fine if it was a small-scale issue, but this logistics black storm has spread to many European and American countries at lightning speed. Generally speaking, the end of the year is the peak period for cross-border e-commerce to stock up, and as sea transportation is the main means of exporting to Europe and the United States, demand is bound to surge in a short period of time. As a result, just a few days ago, several logistics companies issued a notice: they would suspend accepting all sea freight from Europe and the United States . However, not only sea transportation, but also some US air delivery business has been completely suspended . Therefore, in an environment where supply exceeds demand, it is difficult to find a container for European and American cargo transportation. Some sellers reported that the shipping cost of a container that once cost $2,000 to cross the Pacific Ocean and reach America has now reached $13,000. In other words, the price of ocean shipping has increased by more than 6 times compared to before. At the same time, a freight forwarding company even issued a notice stating that due to the lack of containers on the shipping agency and the tight transportation of trailers at the terminal, the Yantian ship schedule will be delayed by 10 days . Just imagine: first there is a 10-day delay, then 1-2 weeks of transportation, and then the goods cannot be put into the warehouse due to the backlog when arriving at the destination, and then a few more weeks of waiting, and 1 month has passed. What should those sellers who don’t have much inventory do? In addition, some Amazon FBA warehouses in Europe and the United States have been closed due to employees being infected with the new coronavirus . However, the closure of FBA warehouses and the backlog of goods have probably become commonplace since last year. However, it is not just FBA warehouses, Canada Post has also seen widespread infection. According to foreign media reports, as many as 190 employees of a large postal logistics processing center in Mississauga, Toronto have been diagnosed with the virus and 350 have been quarantined . Even the local border service agency has decided not to provide services to the postal center. Because of employee infection, the local logistics processing center had to stop operations. From this perspective, the Chinese New Year dreams of some cross-border sellers this year may be shattered by this logistics black storm!
