A large number of sellers were suddenly scanned! Is Amazon reviewing old accounts?

As time enters May, Prime Day is gradually approaching. Recently, Amazon Europe announced that the application for Prime Day sale will end on May 12, which also indicates that the warm-up horn for this promotion has already sounded.

But at the same time, under Amazon's timeless law of "doubling the impact during peak seasons", a large number of sellers have once again received signals that the platform's risk control measures will be further upgraded, targeting the identity information verification problem of old accounts.

A large number of old accounts need to re-verify identity information

It is learned that recently, a large number of sellers reported that they received emails from Amazon asking them to re-verify their identity information .

The email mentioned that Amazon is re-verifying the seller's identity and the seller must provide the following documents within 60 days:

1. Information about the seller’s business;
2. The seller’s identity information;
3. Government-issued photo ID;
4. Bank account or credit card statement;
5. Business license (if applicable).

It is worth noting that the sellers who have received this notice have limited access to Amazon's sales services. Amazon also stated that if the seller fails to complete the verification operation, it may result in abnormal payment or account deactivation.

According to the feedback from sellers who received the relevant verification emails, most of the accounts that triggered the review were old accounts registered in 2021 or earlier.

In this regard, many sellers speculated that this was a new round of sweeping operations against old accounts launched by Amazon on the eve of the peak season.

Due to its wide impact, this topic has also sparked a wave of heated discussions in the cross-border circle.

A seller revealed that he had heard at the end of last year that Amazon was verifying old stores in turn . Calculating the time, stores registered 21 years ago will almost be verified this year.

Some sellers also believe that Amazon is scanning the number to verify the authenticity of the business license and legal person information , and generally it will pass if the information is normal .

However, some sellers also said that most sellers are panicked about this audit because most of the old accounts were registered with personal ID cards and do not have individual business licenses.

It is learned that at present, regardless of whether it is an old account registered with a personal ID card or a company registered, sellers have reported that they have successfully passed the verification after submitting it . Therefore, sellers whose information is true and have a business license do not need to worry too much about this review.

Here, based on the information currently collected, we summarize the relevant matters of this review for sellers' reference:

How to deal with Amazon's review of old accounts

Amazon's process for re-verifying old account information:

Step 1: After receiving the above email, the seller needs to submit verification-related information according to the background requirements.
Step 2: The robot screens the information, and Amazon then verifies it.
Step 3: The seller receives an email confirming that the verification is successful.

Information required for verification:

Seller identification information, government-issued photo ID, bank account or credit card statement, business license (if applicable).

Related notes:
1. The data is screened by robots first, so the seller needs to ensure the clarity, completeness and validity of the documents ;
2. If the address in the account backend is different from the address on the business license, you can fill in the address on the business license .
3. Specific requirements for bills:

  • The bank statement must show the bank name, logo, account number and account holder's name and must be issued within 180 days;
  • The account number and holder name on the statement must be consistent with the information provided during registration.

About accounts registered with personal ID cards

According to the sellers’ suggestions, there are two solutions for personal accounts without registered business licenses:

First, open multiple cases and ask customer service for personal authentication (only ID card and bill are required);
The second is to first register for an individual business license, and then change the original personal registration information in the background to a company.

It is worth noting that although some sellers have successfully used the first method and passed the verification, some sellers have experienced a re-verification display in the background after passing the verification, and they need to submit their business licenses.

At present, no reliable solution has been found for this kind of situation. We will continue to pay attention to the follow-up progress. If sellers have relevant solution experience, you can also share and discuss in the comment area~

On the eve of this peak season, I sincerely hope that all sellers’ accounts can be safely verified by Amazon.
