In addition to the account verification storm some time ago, the frequent rejection of brand registration is also a headache for sellers.


Some sellers submitted their applications several times but were not approved. The reason why brand registration is frequently rejected is related to the trademark registration lawyers themselves. Brand registration is a necessary condition for sellers to sell goods on the platform. If brand registration cannot be completed, it means that sellers cannot sell goods normally.

US lawyers sue Amazon


Amazon’s brand registration requires sellers to register their trademarks with the USPTO before they can apply, and the USPTO requires applicants or registrants residing in foreign countries to be represented by a US licensed attorney to register trademarks.


But we are all domestic sellers. Where can we find a licensed lawyer to register a trademark on our behalf? Even if we find one, the lawyer will not register a trademark on behalf of a foreigner...


This is where the problem lies. Most sellers can only find a US lawyer through a service provider to complete the trademark registration.


Why was the brand registration rejected?


Amazon deemed the brand submitted by the seller ineligible for Brand Registry because the trademark registration was submitted by a questionable attorney who was previously associated with an existing trademark that was sanctioned/declared invalid by the USPTO for violating the USPTO Terms and Conditions.



This is really frustrating. Some sellers have paid the money, but their brand registration failed because of lawyers' problems. But there are also sellers whose lawyers have no problems and whose procedures are complete, but their brand registration is also rejected. Is it because the "tech company" has a bug again? There have been too many problems with brand registration recently.


Because Amazon frequently refuses to register sellers’ brands due to lawyer issues, a lawyer chose to fight back and sued Amazon for “assault and defamation,” accusing Amazon of defaming her when responding to the seller’s email.



Although issues such as brand registration have made many sellers feel stressed, Amazon is also actively maintaining the platform's ecological issues.

Amazon fights counterfeiting again!

Amazon is actively pursuing legal action against companies that provide false reviews.


Amazon's fake review problem has always attracted much attention and is something that Amazon has been dealing with for a long time. It is reported that Amazon has filed a lawsuit against four fake review companies, Reddit Marketing Pro, MangoCity, Littlesmm and Nice Discount, because they tried to mislead Amazon customers by selling fake reviews.



In addition to taking measures against companies that engage in fake orders, Amazon will also impose corresponding penalties on sellers who participate in fake orders, such as reducing traffic exposure.


For consumers, checking reviews before shopping has become a habit before consumption. According to a survey, 80% of consumers said they would check product-related reviews before placing an order, which means that the quantity and quality of reviews largely determine consumers' purchasing decisions.


Consumers' habits have given sellers this opportunity to take advantage of the situation. More and more businesses have started to make fake reviews, mixing real and fake reviews. Amazon has always focused on customer experience, so it will naturally not allow such deception of consumers to happen. If you want to develop your store sustainably, you still have to use white hat operations. When it comes to product reviews, many Amazon sellers have a headache. On the one hand, it is because the cost of obtaining reviews is getting higher and higher, and on the other hand, the risk of obtaining and maintaining reviews is also increasing. Now the white hat way to obtain reviews is to use variants and Amazon's official Vine.


There have been some changes to Amazon’s review policy and variant merging policy.




First, the weight of the variant listing is calculated based on the parent, which means that if you merge the new product with the old product as the seed link, you can get the review, but the new product period and Newly Release marks will be gone. The impact of a new product without a new product period is quite large. Fortunately, there is a chance to unbind the seed link, so that the new product period and Newly Release will reappear.


Secondly, many variant products now have separate reviews, especially recently merged variant products, which are basically displayed separately, with few shared reviews. This shows that Amazon has begun to rectify Review merging.


In the future, Amazon will not reduce its efforts to combat fake reviews, but will only increase them. It will strengthen supervision and combat fake reviews to improve the overall reputation and user experience of the platform.


Although Amazon has made great efforts to create a good ecological environment for sellers, the review mechanism still needs to be further strengthened.
