Emergency! A large number of seller links cannot be sold normally!

There are only 11 days left until the US Consumer Notification Act officially comes into effect.

To this day, under the constraints of the law, Amazon's large-scale account verification wave is still continuing. This morning, many sellers in the communication group reported that stores that had not previously triggered the law's review have been collectively reviewed in recent days, and more sellers said that they are still deeply trapped in the previous verification storm and have not yet escaped.

However, as one problem is solved, another one arises. In addition to the delay in advertising data updates and the unexpected 20% discount on links some time ago, Amazon seems to have encountered new problems recently.

A large number of sellers’ shopping carts disappeared for no reason!

It is learned that recently, some sellers reported on the forum that in the past three days, all FBA links on sale at Amazon Italy have inexplicably lost their shopping carts.

The seller said that his listing on the Italian site has been on the shelves for more than a year, the link has stable sales, no other sellers are following suit, the rating is not low, the return rate is not high, and the account status is normal . However, starting from June 14, the shopping carts of the backend links began to disappear inexplicably. As of June 15, 95% of its links had lost their shopping carts and could not be sold normally.

After opening many cases and the problem still could not be solved, the seller had no choice but to post on the forum for help.

After the post was published, many sellers reported that they had the same situation:
"I also lost my entire store's shopping cart this week. I didn't change the listing or adjust the price, and the performance was normal. I haven't found a solution yet!"
"My situation is the same. It happened on the German site. I started to lose my shopping cart slowly at noon the day before yesterday."
"It happened to me too. First it happened to Italy, then Spain. There were no performance issues and no complaints. Suddenly, the shopping cart disappeared. I tried to lower the price, delete the listing and refresh the form, but nothing worked."

It is understood that as of now, sellers at sites in Italy, Germany, France and Spain have all experienced the above-mentioned shopping carts disappearing inexplicably.

As we all know, shopping carts are extremely important to Amazon sellers, and are the key to exposure and conversion rates. Generally speaking, the main reasons for the disappearance of shopping carts include unreasonable price adjustments, arbitrary changes to listing information, and poor listing performance due to many negative reviews . However, judging from the above-mentioned sellers’ feedback, the reason for the disappearance of shopping carts this time is obviously not within the scope of these conventional factors.

One of the sellers observed that these sites with abnormal conditions have all joined Call-Off Stock (COS, known as Amazon's advanced pan-European program for European sellers) , so the seller speculated that the inexplicable disappearance of the shopping cart may be related to this program.

However, Amazon has not responded to this situation so far . We still need to wait for a reply to find out the specific situation. We will continue to pay attention to the subsequent progress. If sellers have a reliable solution to this situation, they can discuss it in the comment area.

It is worth noting that in recent times, in addition to the verification storm caused by the Consumer Notification Act that is about to take effect, another bill also proposed by the United States has also caused heated discussions in the cross-border circle.

US proposes to eliminate tariff exemptions

It is learned that recently, according to foreign media reports, a group of bipartisan U.S. lawmakers plans to propose a bill to cancel the tariff exemption enjoyed by e-commerce sellers for shipments from China to the United States.

It is understood that before this, according to the "de minimis" rule of the Tariff Act, suppliers whose goods are worth less than $800 are exempt from disclosing the origin and manufacturer of the goods to customs, and can even almost avoid US customs review. However, there is a loophole in this rule, which allows related companies to divide the goods into multiple parcels with a value of less than $800 to enter the country, maintain exemption and avoid review.

The report claims that micro-sized e-commerce packages shipped from China to the United States have been increasing since 2019. According to U.S. Customs data, the number of such e-commerce shipments increased from 410.5 million pieces in 2018 to 685.5 million pieces in 2022.

Therefore, in order to plug this loophole, US lawmakers proposed this bill targeting Chinese e-commerce products. Once the bill is officially enacted, Chinese cross-border e-commerce companies will immediately lose the qualification to enjoy "tax exemption for goods imported into the United States with a total value not exceeding US$800."

It is worth noting that the report also pointed out that SHEIN , which was founded in China and headquartered in Singapore, and Temu , which entered the US market last year, are the biggest beneficiaries of this tariff exemption rule. These Chinese e-commerce platforms are known for their low prices when they go overseas. It is foreseeable that if the bill is successfully enacted, it will have a great impact on them.

In addition, we also learned that the value of a single package of direct mail small parcels such as clothing, toys, 3C digital products, etc. shipped from China to the United States is almost all less than US$800. That is, once the bill is officially implemented, it will undoubtedly increase the costs for most Chinese cross-border sellers of direct mail small parcels.

However, as of now, it is still unknown how much support the proposal will receive and whether it can be passed. In February last year, a similar bill was proposed in the "2022 American Competitiveness Act" promoted by US lawmakers, but it ultimately failed to pass Congress.

As we all know, the promotion and review of any bill takes a long time, so for most cross-border sellers, the top priority is still to prepare for the upcoming Prime Day.
