After the seller has registered with Amazon, the system will assign a GCID to the product within 48 hours after approval:

1. For products whose brand name and key attribute information have been filled in, the system will automatically assign a GCID;

2. If the listing does not contain brand name and key attribute information, in order to assign a GCID to the product, you need to use the template to partially update the product information so that the system can assign a GCID.

It is recommended to select key attributes other than Upc/EAN/JAN for filing.

Currently, after filing, if the brand category is consistent with the filing, directly select GCID to upload the product;

If the product has variants, you can set a GCID that will not be repeated with other products and upload the product.

How to check the GCID of a product

1. Click "Inventory Reports" in the INVENTORY drop-down menu in the seller's backend to enter the inventory report page.

2. On the Inventory Reports page, select Active Listings Report from the report type drop-down list, then click Request Report.

3. After the report is generated, please copy the information in the Txt text into Excel for viewing.

4. Find the W column (product-id column) in the report. If your product has been assigned a GCID, you will see a 16-digit alphanumeric code (without spaces or hyphens) in this column.

Advantages of trademark filing

1. You can add A+ pages for your products

For trademarks that have been registered with GCID, the system will enable sellers to edit EBC (Enhanced Brand Content), which is what we usually call A+ pages or graphic description pages.

2. It can prevent people from copying your products

Before filing a GCID trademark registration, many sellers first think of preventing others from following them. Indeed, according to Amazon’s rules, listings that have done a GCID trademark registration are more likely to get Amazon’s support in complaints about following others, which can prevent their hard-earned listings from being followed by others to a certain extent. However, from actual experience, GCID registration is not equivalent to a successful complaint when being followed by others.

3. Sellers begin to become more formal

From a psychological perspective, GCID trademark registration means that sellers are beginning to move towards formalization. Growth, development and improvement are what many sellers are pursuing. When a seller registers a trademark and does GCID registration, it means that the seller himself has more and higher pursuits psychologically, will maintain his account more carefully, make operations more refined, and gradually let go of the mentality of speculation.
