What is the Transparency Program? Transparency Program Review
Amazon's Transparency program helps track inventory data from the manufacturer to the end user, aiming to distinguish genuine products from counterfeits, as well as track the date and location of production of items. Launched in 2018 English Transparency program targets Amazon platform to prevent copycat sales

introduce

When sellers join the "Transparency Program", the products will be affixed with a "Transparency Label" (a blue T label), which is a unique code, a bit like the UPC digital code, for scanning and identification by the Amazon APP. Unlike the commonly used barcode, by scanning the "Transparency Label", buyers can trace the product's production address, production date, ingredients, and material sources.

Amazon scans the QR code provided by Transparency to verify the authenticity of the items received. The program is free for the first six months, and then costs between 1-5 cents per QR code.

status quo

Currently, more than 10,000 brands around the world have registered to use Amazon's Transparency program, including Fortune 500 companies, world-renowned brands and start-ups, including Spectrum Brands, Neato, Petrichor, Skullcandy, Salom, Nomader, Naples Naturals, Amazfit and other brands. The Transparency program has prevented more than 500,000 suspected counterfeit products on Amazon from reaching consumers.

use

1. Find the transparent label "blue T mark" on the product;

2. Open the camera on the Amazon app;

3. Scan the "transparent label";

4. Get more information about product origin, authenticity, etc.

Customers can scan the transparency code on a product using the Amazon shopping app or the Transparency app for their iOS or Android phone. When scanned, the app will display a green check mark if the code is valid and a red X mark if it is not. Brands can choose to share additional unit-level product information such as production date, production location, and enhanced product information (e.g. ingredients).

The cost of the Transparency Program consists of two parts:

The purchase fee of the QR code is currently charged in segments:

One-time purchase quantity

If the one-time purchase quantity is less than 1 million, the price is US$0.05 per piece;

· 1 million pieces < one-time purchase quantity < 10 million pieces, then $0.03 per piece;

If the one-time purchase quantity is greater than 10 million, the price is US$0.01 per piece.

Entry requirements

1. First of all, you must be a Brand owner.

2. Successfully complete brand registration 2.0, which means that the trademark requirement for successful brand registration on Amazon is the R mark.

How to Join

Transparency is currently still an invitation-only program. However, some sellers have obtained internal testing qualifications by consulting Amazon account managers for relevant information. So if you are interested, you can also ask Amazon directly about the Transparency program.

How to prevent copycat sales

1. FBA follow-selling: When other sellers follow your FBA sales, they must obtain your traceability mark and affix an anti-counterfeiting QR code on the product packaging, otherwise the goods will be destroyed;

2. Self-shipping and follow-selling: When other sellers submit offers for a listing, Amazon will require the follow-seller to provide the correct QR code for verification, otherwise they will not be able to follow-sell the listing.

Purpose

1. Providing proactive anti-counterfeiting protection to brands

Amazon has implemented Transparency checks in its US fulfillment centers to ensure that Transparency-enabled products shipped to consumers are authentic.

2. Allow consumers to verify product authenticity

Transparency allows consumers to verify the authenticity of products they purchase from any channel that has Transparency enabled.

3. Provide consumers with transparent product information

Transparency enables brands to share rich unit-level product information, including production date, production location, and more comprehensive product information.

4. The principle of transparent plan to prevent copycat sales

Products in the Transparency Program are labeled with a "Transparency Label" (a blue T label) and given a unique code - a numeric code similar to a UPC or EAN.

Development History

In 2019, on July 10, Amazon announced that it would expand the Amazon Transparency Program, a product serialization service aimed at preventing counterfeit products, to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, India and Canada.

In October 2020, Amazon announced that it would expand the Transparency program to Amazon Japan and Australia. The service now covers Amazon's top ten sites worldwide (previously covering Amazon Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States).
