Basic Introduction

On Pixabay, you can find and share free copyright-free images. All images here are published under the Creative Commons CC0 protocol. You can copy, modify, forward, and use these images, even for commercial purposes, without applying for permission or paying royalties. However, the content involved in the image may still involve trademark rights and publicity and privacy rights.

According to the Creative Commons CC0 related portrait rights, users who upload pictures on the site automatically give up the copyright of the pictures, thus making the pictures widely circulated. The site allows anyone to use and modify the pictures - even in commercial applications - without asking for permission and without recognition.

Upload Requirements

Image file format must be JPEG, PNG, PSD, AI, or SVG, file size must not exceed 40 MB, and all images must be at least 1920 pixels on a side

Materials can be uploaded in MPEG, MOV and AVI formats, and the file size must not exceed 300 MB. The minimum resolution is 1280×800 pixels, and clips should not exceed 60 seconds.

User Groups

About 27% of Pixabay's users speak English, 20% speak Spanish, 11% speak Portuguese, 7% speak German and 5% speak French. Its users are mainly bloggers, graphic designers, writers, journalists and advertisers.

In March 2012, Pixabay began its transformation from a private image collection site into an interactive online community that supports 20 languages.

In May 2012, the site launched a public application programming interface, allowing third-party users and website developers to search its image database.

In June 2012, it was founded as the official Creative Commons CC search site along with Flickr, YouTube and Wikimedia Commons.

As of February 2013, the site has approximately 70,000 free photos and vector graphics provided by photographers and illustrators in its community.

In 2014, six additional interface languages ​​were implemented (Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, Slovak, Bulgarian, Danish).

In addition to the images, all of them are available under the Creative Commons CC0 license.

In January 2016, there were about 33,200 active image authors. Hans Braxmeier himself contributed over 20,000 images, which were downloaded over 2 million times. The second most active contributor was geralt, who uploaded 10,000 images (over 4.5 million downloads).

As of November 2017, we offer over 1,188,454 free photos, illustrations, vectors and videos.
