Launched in 2012 by Ralf Wenzel and Benjamin Bauer , Foodpanda is operated from Berlin, Germany, and is present in more than 40 countries and 500 cities across five continents .

Basic Introduction

foodpanda operates three major brands: hellofood , used in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East; foodpanda, used in Asia, Eastern Europe and some Commonwealth countries ; and recently acquired Russian competitor DeliveryClub , which retains its name and continues to provide services in 19 cities in Russia.

Profit Model

Foodpanda 's profit model is to charge merchants, while consumers can order food on the platform for free. From small restaurants to large chain merchants such as 7-11 and KFC , there are partner restaurants.

Development History

Foodpanda launched in Singapore in March 2012 and expanded to 16 countries by the end of this year .

As of February 2013 , the company operated in 23 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America .

In mid- 2014 , it acquired Delivery Club for an undisclosed price , which is also the only brand Foodpanda operates in Russia.

Financing

In May 2013 , FoodPanda received more than $ 20 million in financing from investors including AB Kinnevik , Phenomen Ventures and Rocket Internet itself. The funds raised in this round of financing will be used for further market expansion and to expand operations in more cities in the original market.

In August 2014 , online food ordering service foodpanda recently completed a $ 60 million financing round, with investors from venture capital institutions from the United States and Europe, including Rocket Internet , the original major investor of foodpanda . This round of financing will be mainly used to strengthen foodpanda's penetration in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, strengthen its brand and resist other powerful competitors.

In May 2015 , Foodpanda completed a financing of US$ 100 million from investors including Goldman Sachs and RocketInternet .

In December 2017 , Indian taxi app giant Ola planned to re-enter the food delivery industry. They have acquired Foodpanda India , an Indian subsidiary of German food delivery service platform Delivery Hero Group . The specific acquisition amount has not been disclosed to the public.
