How to calculate the best storage configuration fee? It may be more cost-effective to store small and light products in 4 or more pieces?

Positive

My C position

Recently, the warehouse configuration fee has been a big blow to our sellers, especially our goods spanning 1 ounce, 1 pound, and 3 pounds. Recently, I have been calculating the most appropriate solution and found the following points after calculation:

01

It is more cost-effective to store small and light products in more than 4 storage locations

It is more cost-effective to store small and light products in 4 or more storage locations. If this is not possible, 2-3 storage locations are also acceptable.

advantage:
1. Reduce the storage configuration fee. Greeting cards are low-priced products, and the minimum configuration fee for a single card is 0.21
2. A single charge of 0.2 or more, a large number of charges, more

shortcoming:
1. The time for warehousing in warehouses is extended, and the time for stocking is extended
2. Affects the length of time it takes to sell, and may lead to more transshipments

02

If the product weight is 12 ounces to 1.5 pounds, consider not dividing it into warehouses or dividing it into 4 warehouses.

If the product weight is between 12 ounces and 1.5 pounds, consider not dividing it into warehouses or dividing it into 4 warehouse locations.

advantage:
Quick warehousing

shortcoming:
Cost increased by 0.2-0.3 per unit

03

For products weighing 1.5-3 pounds, consider not having a warehouse or having 4 warehouse locations

For products weighing 1.5-3 pounds, consider not having a warehouse or having 4 warehouse locations

advantage:
1. Small quantity, small additional cost per unit
2. Fast delivery regardless of warehouse

shortcoming:
4 warehouse locations extend the time for receiving and preparing goods

Remark:
1. The premise of being able to be divided into 4 storage locations is that the number of boxes is greater than 4 or the mixed SKUs are not too many
2. You can consider using overseas warehouses - you need to calculate the additional cost and compare it with the additional cost of warehousing configuration fees, and choose the best one
3. Separate warehouses may reduce the time and inventory for subsequent transfers - personal guess

The above is just my humble opinion. Welcome to discuss

Warehousing in multiple warehouses will shorten the time to market, not extend it.
In the past, if you sent goods to one warehouse, they would transfer them from various warehouses. Now you send them directly to these warehouses, so the time to put them on the shelves will be shortened.

After analysis, we found that the best solution for small and light commodities is to divide the original box of goods into multiple boxes to match 4 or more warehouses to avoid warehousing configuration fees, and then compensate for the increased head-mile costs by reducing the FBA delivery fees.

For the first leg, you can consider looking for air transport that does not require lifting. After calculating the overall cost, the first leg will only increase the cost by about 30%.

There is a small problem at present. Sometimes it will not match you with 4 or more warehouses even if there are multiple boxes.

Mixed boxes will basically only be assigned to one warehouse, and the only warehousing configuration method that can be selected is "minimum shipment splitting"
The suggestion is to increase the proportion of SKUs packed separately. They may be assigned to "Amazon's optimized shipment split". However, the overall distribution will be relatively scattered. For small sellers with scattered orders, the first leg will increase again.

If light and small products need to be stored in more than 4 locations:
1. The number of SKUs is more than two
2. The number of boxes to be packed must be more than 5
3. There must be at least 5 boxes with the same packing quantity as the sku quantity. If there is a sixth box, the sixth box can be packed at will.

Is there any solution to force a warehouse to be divided? When creating a shipment in the background, the options for the other two warehouses are grayed out.
