It is learned that around 12:30 pm on October 13 , thousands of Snapchat users around the world reported various problems with Snapchat not working properly. 50% of Snapchat users reported login connection problems, 29% of users said that the application could not send messages, and 21% of users said that they could not send photos and publish stories on Snapchat.

The social e-commerce application has more than 265 million users worldwide. As of 14:00 on the 13th, Snapchat had received nearly 8,000 reports of failures. At 16:30 that afternoon, more than 34,000 tweets were gathered under the #snapchatdown tag, ranking at the top of the search trends. Snapchat said it had backed up the user's data as soon as possible and would make every effort to repair it. It was around 5:00 p.m. that day that Snapchat was able to operate normally. It is reported that Snapchat lost millions of dollars in revenue during the failure. On October 4, 2021, Facebook, Instagram and What'sApp also crashed for nearly 6 hours.

It is learned that at the end of last year, Snapchat launched a new feature called Spotlight, which aims to compete with TikTok from Chinese rivals. Similar to TikTok, Spotlight also provides a series of short video clip functions, which present video content to users through algorithmic planning.
