Higher than expected! Pinterest announced a 125% increase in revenue in the second quarter of 2021!

It is learned that the American social e-commerce Pinterest announced its second quarter financial report on July 29. The following is a summary of the performance:

  • Second-quarter revenue increased 125% year-on-year to $613 million, higher than the expected $562.3 million. U.S. market revenue was $480 million, up 107% year-on-year; international market revenue increased 227% year-on-year to $133 million.

  • Net profit in the second quarter was $69.417 million, compared with a net loss of $101 million in the same period last year.

  • In the second quarter, global monthly active users increased by 9% year-on-year to 454 million. Among them, active users in the United States decreased year-on-year to 91 million, while active users in international regions increased by 13% year-on-year to 363 million.

Pinterest expects revenue growth of around 40% in the third quarter, and will continue to place its main strategic focus in 2021 on content, Pinner product experience, product advertising and transaction volume, while expanding its scale and supporting international expansion.

It is learned that the Idea Pins feature launched by Pinterest in the second quarter will greatly increase user engagement. This multi-page video format enables all creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland to participate in videos and explore content directly on Pinterest. The product tags in Idea Pins can jump to the product purchase link, and buyers can purchase directly.

Pinterest also announced that it will further expand the shopping function to Canada, Australia, France and Germany to promote user participation. This function will allow buyers to search for the products they want to buy directly from Pins, boards, and Lens camera searches, giving buyers a convenient and good shopping experience.
