Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft CEOs to attend White House Cybersecurity Summit!

According to foreign media reports, CEOs of several large companies, including Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, will meet with President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday to discuss cybersecurity issues in various countries. It is reported that the CEOs of IBM, JPMorgan Chase and Google may also attend the meeting.

The meeting comes as the Biden administration, which has been investigating Apple, Google and Amazon for potential antitrust violations, grapples with the growing threat of cyberattacks.

Microsoft was reportedly among the countries targeted by the SolarWinds hack, which also affected several government agencies. In addition, cybersecurity has become a growing concern within the government following a massive hack by Russian hackers against government systems, including the Department of Defense, in December 2020, and a ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline, a U.S. fuel pipeline company, in April this year.

In the wake of the Colonial Pipeline hack, which cut off nearly 50 percent of fuel capacity on the East Coast and caused severe fuel shortages, 23 U.S. pipeline companies have stepped up calls for improved cybersecurity at the national level.

The president may ask CEOs to make such investments during this meeting.

In addition, the damage caused by these hacker attacks also requires a lot of money, labor, and equipment to remedy. It is not difficult to explain why the press secretary described the meeting as "a discussion with private company leaders on how to improve national cybersecurity."
