The US Senate has come up with a new move! It wants to restrict mergers and acquisitions of large companies such as Amazon and Google!

It is learned that two senators from the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee recently proposed an antitrust bill aimed at restricting mergers and acquisitions of large technology giants such as Amazon, Google, and Facebook.

The bill, introduced by Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar and Republican Senator Tom Cotton, would require companies to prove to a judge that their mergers are pro-competitive and legal, making it easier for the government to block deals it believes violate antitrust laws.

Typically, antitrust enforcement, such as proving that a particular transaction will lead to higher prices or other illegal reasons, is carried out by the government.

It is reported that a similar bill proposed by another Democratic Congressman Hakeem Jeffries has been approved by the House Judiciary Committee and is awaiting a vote by the full House of Representatives.

"In today's market, more and more companies are choosing to buy their competitors rather than compete reasonably," Amy said in a statement. "The new bill will make it more difficult for dominant companies to eliminate competitors and strengthen their market power, thereby preventing these anti-competitive acquisitions."

Although the government has proposed a number of bills aimed at reining in large companies, none has become law so far. The only bill that has passed the Senate merely increases the enforcement powers of antitrust officials.
