22% of pet owners in the U.S. will continue to shop online for their pets, a 2-fold increase from 2019!

It is learned that according to a survey by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), 22% of "pet owners" said that after November 2021, they will continue to purchase items for their pets online, including food, toys, clothing, etc.

According to APPA, the number of people buying pet supplies in the United States will triple compared to 2019 (before the pandemic). Among them, 12% of consumers will choose to shop online, 47% will choose to shop in physical stores, and 7% will browse online first and then buy in stores.

APPA pointed out that Americans have more pets to keep them company in 2021. 14% of respondents own a new pet, up from 6% in June 2020. Among them, most pet owners are Generation Z and Millennials.

Gina Tumbarello, director of international trade for the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), said U.S. pet food exports grew 2.4% in 2021, continuing a small but steady growth since 2017.

It can be seen that the global pet products market, including the United States, is on the rise. According to Gina Tumbarello, the top five exporters of pet products in the world in 2021 are the United States, China, Thailand, Russia, and Canada.

According to AFIA data, most of China's pet products are exported to Europe, with a small number exported to the United States. The United States mainly exports to several countries such as the Philippines, China and Costa Rica, and in recent years, exports to Mexico have increased significantly.
