The latest ranking of US retailers’ favorability! Amazon’s ranking is surprising

It is learned that on May 26, AxiosHarris released the latest poll of American retailers, revealing the ranking of retailers most loved by American consumers. The AxiosHarris poll was based on a survey of 33,096 Americans from March 11 to April 3, 2022.


As the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, U.S. consumers’ frustration with supply chain issues and inflation has declined, while their favorability and trust in retailers have increased.


Last year, major retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Best Buy saw their reputations improve significantly in the U.S. This year, Walmart and Target both improved their reputation rankings, rising six and nine spots, respectively. Best Buy's reputation ranking dropped three spots, but its trust ranking improved by 18 spots.



Home Depot had one of the biggest jumps in reputation among the top 100 companies, moving up 27 spots from 45th to 18th. Its trust ranking alone jumped 32 spots, from 42nd to 10th. Biglots made the list this year after not appearing on the list last year.


Costco was a bit of an outlier this year, falling 17 spots in its reputation ranking and dropping in all seven of its core rankings (such as trust and culture).


While retailers struggle with some of the same supply chain and employment issues facing the e-commerce and delivery industries, the data shows that consumer frustrations are shifting to the tech giants.


Amazon's product and service ranking dropped significantly from last year, falling five spots this year from 9th to 14th. Grubhub, Doordash, Uber, Spirit, and Wish also performed poorly compared to the past two years.
