Taking advantage of the chaos to divide the market! Meta will create an application similar to Twitter?

According to reports, Meta introduced a system in Instagram that is similar to Twitter and the reforms that Musk added to the platform in an effort to attract users to compete with Twitter.

According to the New York Times, Meta is considering creating a Twitter-like social network, taking advantage of the Twitter crisis after being acquired by Musk.

Meta will create an app similar to Twitter

Meta employees participated in a virtual "brainstorming" session last month to discuss how to build the next Twitter. Among the proposals discussed by Meta staff was a more widespread implementation of a feature called Instagram Notes, which would allow people to share short messages on the social network.

Others pointed out that Mark Zuckerberg's company should create a text-centric app using Instagram technology or add another feed to the social network for such posts.

Meta's move is not surprising, as the technology company is good at imitating features of other successful social networks such as TikTok and Snapchat.

Is Twitter's social media market facing division?

The race to take advantage of Twitter's chaos has begun. Twitter's viability has been questioned since Musk bought the social network, and the world's richest man fired thousands of employees, began changing the platform's content rules, and announced that Twitter was in financial trouble and might even go bankrupt. For this reason, companies like Meta immediately recognized the opportunity to fill the potential gap.

In addition to Meta, the new company of former Twitter employee Post and niche services such as Mastodon, Tumblr and HiveSocial are also eroding Twitter's market.

Mastodon stands out because even before Musk bought Twitter, many Twitter users used Mastodon as a preferred alternative.

HiveSocial consolidated its user base of 1.8 million, many of whom registered as new users on HiveSocial the same night Twitter was acquired.

The last to take advantage of the Twitter crisis, or even make fun of it, was Tumblr. The social network mocked TwitterBlue's verification system. In the past few weeks, Tumblr has seen a noticeable increase in traffic.
