It is learned that the latest report from SensorTower shows that despite economic challenges, downloads of shopping apps in the United States continue to remain stable, and downloads on Black Friday reached the highest level since 2020.
Shopping app downloads grew 3% in Q4
The report shows that the downloads of the top 100 shopping apps in the United States have remained at 100 million since the fourth quarter of 2019. Although the download growth in the third quarter of 2022 was only 3% higher than the second quarter of 2022, the downloads in this quarter were the most of all the third quarters since 2019.
For several consecutive quarters in 2021, the number of downloads of shopping apps in the United States fell from 125 million to less than 100 million. The growth rate has been good since then, and the total number of downloads in the fourth quarter of 2022 is hovering around 125 million again.
According to the report, downloads of shopping apps grew 3% in the fourth quarter of 2022, with 39 million downloads coming from the Apple App Store and approximately 83 million from the Google Play Store.
Fashion shopping apps saw significant growth during Black Friday shopping week
During the Black Friday shopping week in 2022, total shopping app downloads in the United States exceeded 9 million times. Compared with 2019, the adoption rate of shopping apps during Black Friday in 2022 increased by 9%, setting a new record. For example, sneaker apps like GOAT promoted exclusive Black Friday deals on social media platforms through sweepstakes, including a free pair of sneakers. Other shopping apps can learn to leverage their market position to stay relevant by releasing products on exclusive platforms or running seasonal promotions.
