Chinese parcels are strictly checked! US Customs intercepted hundreds of counterfeit USPS stamps!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, recently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) officials seized 4,080 counterfeit USPS stamps (United States Postal Service) at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the counterfeit stamps were found by CPB officers in a package labeled "handbook/self-adhesive paper." After opening it, officers found poorly printed USPS stamps, including 200 Forever stamps, which, if genuine, would have a total value of $126.

“CBP officers are dedicated to protecting the safety of the American public, including preventing counterfeit products from entering the marketplace and keeping them away from consumers,” said Raul Orona, acting port director for the Dallas-Fort Worth region. “Counterfeiters are focused on profiting at the expense of consumers.”

It is reported that CBP officials conducted a strict inspection of 12 batches of goods from China and discovered these counterfeit USPS stamps.

According to reports, in recent months, the number of merchants selling counterfeit USPS stamps has increased dramatically on major e-commerce and social platforms. In response, USPS warns consumers that the best place to buy USPS stamps is at a U.S. Post Office or visit USPS.com.

“Counterfeiting stamps causes tremendous harm to USPS service, and in addition to lost revenue, customers may also face delays, refunds, or even have their mailed items discarded,” said Thomas Noyes, Inspector-in-Charge of the Fort Worth Division. “This is not a minor crime. Forging or possessing a counterfeit stamp is a violation of federal law and can result in up to five years in prison.”

The surge in counterfeit stamps has led the USPS to seek changes to its current mailing rules. According to the revised document, items with counterfeit stamps will be considered discarded and handled directly by the Postal Service. Currently, counterfeit USPS stamps have been turned over to the USPS Inspection Bureau for further investigation.
