CPSC recalls 63,000 baby swings due to choking hazard

It is learned that on March 10, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of a baby swing under the children's brand Jool Baby, saying it posed a choking risk.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the baby swing has a tilt angle greater than 10 degrees, which will increase the pressure on the baby's abdominal muscles and lead to suffocation. The product is not marked with mandatory warnings about the related risks, which violates the Infant Sleep Products Regulations and the Infant Safe Sleep Act.

It is understood that the recalled products were produced from June 2022 to September 2023. The main body of the swing is gray, about 28 inches long, 19 inches wide and 24 inches high. It contains a round aluminum base with music buttons, a metal seat frame, a cloth seat with restraints and headrests, and a canopy with toys such as moons, clouds and stars.

It is understood that more than 63,000 of the products were sold at Walmart stores, Amazon, Babylist, Target and other shopping websites between November 2022 and November 2023, with a price of about $150. There are currently no reports of injuries caused by the product.

The commission said consumers should stop using the swing immediately and contact Jool Baby for a free repair kit, which includes a new seat with an updated product warning, a new remote control and a new hanging plush toy. In addition, concerned consumers should register on the website www.JoolBaby.com/recall and upload a photo of the warning label on the swing.

Jool Baby said the new regulations require the company to update warning labels and instructions on products, packaging and swing promotional materials to make it clear to consumers that baby swings are not suitable for infant sleep.
