Target launches AI tools and tests smart customer service features to optimize gift shopping experience

It is learned that on December 10, according to foreign media reports, Target used generative AI to launch a number of new tools to optimize customers' holiday gift shopping experience and improve online service efficiency.

To help boost sales during the 2024 holiday shopping season, Target launched the "Bullseye Gift Finder" based on generative AI to help customers quickly find ideal gifts. This tool can be used on the Target website and mobile app to provide personalized recommendations by analyzing parameters such as age, interests, and preferred brands. For example, for options for children aged two to four, Bullseye Gift Finder will focus on recommending toys that encourage creative thinking and sensory development, and quickly filter out suitable products from Target's rich products.

In addition, Target is testing an AI chat feature called "Shopping Assistant". This tool is powered by generative AI and can answer customers' questions about specific products in real time. After customers log in to their accounts, they can use this feature under the "About This Product" module on some private label product pages. For example, enter "Will this shirt shrink after washing?" to get an instant answer, helping customers make more informed shopping decisions.

These innovative technologies follow Target's "Store Companion" AI tool launched this summer to further expand its application scope. Store Companion is designed to provide employees with operational support, such as answering workflow questions, guiding new employees and optimizing daily management. Target said it plans to continue exploring the potential of generative AI in 2024 and beyond, testing dozens of intelligent applications to further enhance the online and offline shopping experience.
