Many Amazon ASINs are banned from sale! A large number of sellers suffer huge losses!

Recently, sellers have reported that ASINs have been banned from display or require "approval" before they can be sold. This sudden restriction has caused a sharp drop in product sales and caused serious economic losses to sellers.

Sales of a large number of ASINs are restricted

One seller said that about 260 ASINs were affected. These products have been sold in the store for many years and have never encountered similar restrictions.
Among the many affected ASINs, if you continue to operate, you will receive a red message: "Your account is not eligible." Amazon customer service did not provide an effective solution for this, but only mentioned that the brand has the right to set sales restrictions at any time. Due to the large number of brands and ASINs involved, the seller has thousands of inventory stranded.

Many sellers have reported issues with ASIN sales being restricted:
  • Has Amazon issued a new rule? I was prompted with an error message when I uploaded less than 100 ASINs for 3 products!

  • "This situation has lasted for three months and has not improved, during which time it has been necessary to frequently reapply for sales rights, " said a brand product that has been sold for ten years.

  • “Every day we receive a notification of restricted product removal, file an appeal, and a few days later it’s another dream.”

It can be seen that most sellers’ products suddenly disappeared from the inventory list without being notified. Some even received notifications that their products were deleted, and even appeals were of little use.
In addition, some sellers’ own-brand products also received restriction orders. Some of their products received the message “Account Not Qualified”. After repeated confirmation, it was found that Amazon added an attribute with the restricted logo name to the listing.
For example, an attribute called "League Name" was automatically filled in as "NFL" by Amazon's artificial intelligence. Although it has nothing to do with the sports league, because "NFL" itself is a restricted brand, the platform forced the removal of his products and required approval before they could be sold.
Sellers believe Amazon's robots may have caused the problem by mistakenly modifying product attributes without human review.
At present, the ASIN sales restriction incident has a wide impact. If the restrictions cannot be lifted, sellers will be greatly affected. It is recommended that affected sellers obtain sales approval through formal channels.

Necessary information is required when applying to sell restricted products:
  • Confirm eligibility: Confirm whether you are eligible to sell the restricted product.

  • Relevant information: Information required by Amazon, including brand authorization documents, patent license documents, relevant licenses, etc.

  • If you work directly with a brand, you can ask the brand whether they can be added to the list of authorized sellers on Amazon.

Amazon restrictions and policies are constantly changing

In recent years, Amazon's regulatory policies on uploaded products have become increasingly tightened, especially the restrictions and reviews on ASIN have become more stringent.
Amazon's move is mainly to improve the quality of products on the platform and avoid a large number of duplicate or low-quality products on the market, and also to optimize the shopping experience of buyers.
A person familiar with the matter said: "Amazon's robot system is reviewing and removing all sellers who do not meet the requirements one by one."
In the face of such changes, sellers who rely on large-scale distribution to gain more exposure and sales opportunities can adopt the following strategies to cope with it:
  • Select products: Reduce the distribution volume while improving the quality and differentiation of individual products.

  • Optimize existing products: For products that have already been put on the shelves, carry out detailed optimization, including improving product descriptions, image quality and customer reviews, in order to increase conversion rates.

  • Data analysis: Use data analysis tools to deeply analyze sales data, identify profit and loss points, and adjust strategies in a targeted manner.

  • Brand building: In the long run, establishing one's own brand and increasing brand influence are effective ways to get rid of sensitivity to platform policy changes.

  • Multi-channel operation: Not limited to Amazon, you can also consider expanding to other e-commerce platforms or building your own website to spread the risk.
