New news on VAT! Can German sellers stop worrying now?

There are only three days left before the deadline for Amazon Germany to upload the tax copy. As further proof of the seller's tax payment, the tax copy policy is as important as the tax number upload required at the beginning of the year.

If the copy is not uploaded in time within the specified period, the store will be suspended from selling. For more information on how to apply for a tax copy, please refer to our report below.

Just having a tax number is not enough!

Amazon Germany is about to close its stores again...

However, the deadline for uploading tax copies was too tight, and the application process had to go through the German tax office. As a result, a large number of sellers' applications were piled up at the tax office and could not be processed in time. As the final March 1 deadline was approaching, sellers waiting to apply for tax copies were anxious.

However, the German Tax Bureau also released good news today. Sellers who have applied for copies but have not received a response can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Let's first take a look at the news from the German Tax Office.

In view of the heavy workload of applying for tax copies, the tax bureau decided to postpone the original deadline of March 1 to April 15. It can be said that this has solved the urgent need for sellers who are anxious to get a response from the tax bureau.

However, the email also stated the conditions for delaying submission to April 15. The seller must have submitted the application for the tax copy before February 28. Only sellers who meet this condition can extend the submission of the tax copy.

Even after March 7, the authorities will ask Amazon sellers to provide proof of extension, which I guess will be issued by the tax bureau via email. Sellers who have submitted tax copy applications should pay close attention to their emails and Amazon’s official notifications recently, and don’t think that you can just ignore it for now because the extension is until April!

For sellers who don’t have a VAT number or want to enter the European market to grab business opportunities, registering a VAT number for the local country is a must. Now there are two ways to choose from: Amazon’s official VAT service and third-party service providers. Do you want to know what the pros and cons of these two methods are?
