Many sellers ask me why Amazon considers their products as dangerous goods even though they only sell small items such as cosmetics and hair removers.

There are many common products that are classified as dangerous goods on Amazon, such as the cosmetics mentioned above (containing alcohol) or hair removers (containing lithium batteries).

Sellers often fail to distinguish whether their products are dangerous goods or not. Many products that are not dangerous goods still trigger Amazon’s dangerous goods review. Once reviewed, the goods cannot be put into the warehouse until they pass the review , which is a waste of sellers’ time and experience.

In response to the current status of dangerous goods review, Amazon updated FBA’s dangerous goods policy yesterday.

Let’s first take a look at the updates to the dangerous goods policy.

This update mainly replaces the new dangerous goods review form, and uses more detailed pictures and texts to explain how to fill in dangerous goods information or apply for exemption.

This way, sellers can fill in the audit information faster and more accurately, and Amazon can also speed up the entire dangerous goods audit. If a dangerous goods audit is triggered, what should we do?

The first thing to determine is whether your product was accidentally killed or may actually contain dangerous substances.

Generally speaking, items containing lithium batteries, magnets (sound units, headphones, speakers, etc. all contain magnets), alcohol, paint or other organic solvents, most gases, liquids, pastes, powders , etc. are all considered dangerous goods.

Amazon also has a simple query tool and identification guide , you can scan the code at the end of the article to get it . If it is indeed a dangerous product, the seller needs to upload the safety data sheet (SDS) or product ingredient information sheet in the background, both of which are obtained from the manufacturer.

Amazon determines whether a dangerous goods review is required mainly by using algorithms to capture keywords. For example, if a product specifically states that there are no batteries, “Battery Not included”, it will still trigger a review. Similar keywords include LED, power, light, etc., which are all very sensitive keywords captured by algorithms .

Therefore, cases of manslaughter are very common. If you encounter this situation, download the corresponding exemption template in the background, and then fill it out and upload it according to the instructions in the template (it is the same upload entrance as the SDS above. Generally, when the seller is subject to dangerous goods audit, it is when he is preparing to send FBA and converting the newly created self-delivery listing to FBA delivery, because at this time the algorithm will check the listing, and if there are sensitive words in the title or description, it will directly trigger the audit.

Therefore, in order to minimize the chance of being reviewed, you can upload it with a simple description and title first, and then update the listing after the goods arrive at the FBA warehouse.

Of course, this can only be done on non-dangerous goods. If this is done on dangerous goods, they will be directly refused entry into the warehouse.
