The most complained thing about Amazon sellers recently is the updated Asin title policy last week. We also reported in detail when the incident broke out, click here to view. Because of the many unreasonable aspects of this change, a large number of sellers gave negative reviews. We also called on everyone to go to the backend to give negative reviews at the end of the previous article. Now this announcement has received the most negative votes since the launch of Amazon's backend announcement system. ▲The number of votes against has now reached 700 After the incident broke out, sellers were discussing it heatedly, but Amazon officials did not release any relevant information. However, keeping silent does not mean that the official does not pay attention. On the contrary, Amazon officials paid enough attention to it and directly banned the forum. Some of our fans even reported that the backend announcement directly disabled the thumbs-up function for a period of time. Now that this incident has been over for a week, Amazon has finally stepped forward and responded to everyone's condemnation. Let's take a look at what the official said about the most concerned issues. 01 About the character limit of the title At the time of this announcement, the backend policy was to limit titles to 50 characters. A few days later, major media outlets were frantically spreading a rumor refuted by Amazon's official investment manager, saying that the 50 characters were a translation error in the Chinese version of the background, and the English version of the background is 200 characters. However, we found a screenshot of the English backend that confirmed that this was not the case, so why are some pages 200 characters long and some 50 characters long? ▲The English version of the backend also has a 50-character limit Now Amazon has officially given the exact news: This limit varies by category, some categories are limited to 50 characters, while others are still 200 characters. Categories with a 50-character limit include baby and maternity, apparel, accessories and luggage, consumer electronics, art, lighting tools and home decor, video games and software, and jewelry. Regarding the character limit of the title, you can check the inventory template in the background, then select your own category to view the style guide (PDF file) to see it. I will search for a baby category for you to see. Even for products that do not belong to the restricted categories listed above, the title character restrictions are not consistent. You can still use the above method to check how many characters are restricted in your category. Okay, the character limit issue has been resolved. Now I want to talk about the controversial point that everyone is most concerned about, which is that the title and the FBA label must be completely consistent, otherwise the product will be rejected. Now there is finally an official answer. 02 Should the title and tags be exactly the same? Let me state the conclusion first to reassure everyone. There is no need for complete consistency. This news was revealed to us by a seller student in our group. When he consulted customer service today, the customer service said that there was a latest notification confirming that the shipment label and product title do not need to be exactly the same. Later, another student received an email from seller support, which also confirmed this statement. So if you are worried about not being able to optimize and change the title after shipping, or if you are worried that the title in the middle of the label contains ellipsis, you can rest assured. So was it that Amazon expressed it incorrectly, or was it that the sellers’ opposition was so strong that Amazon thought it was unlucky and secretly changed it? Fortunately, we left a screenshot of this policy in our previous article. Let’s first take a look at what Amazon said in the background at the beginning. The Chinese backend translation is actually quite standard, and the English backend does use phrases like "exactly the same," which does require that the labels and titles be exactly the same. But now the backend policy has become like this Amazon directly deleted this sentence in the background. It seems that Amazon saw the overwhelming opposition from sellers and gave in, and secretly changed the policy in the background. But is it really that simple? The first customer service said, " This is a suppression of ASIN (I guess the customer service wants to make it consistent)" which gave me some other ideas. Now I will guess the real purpose of Amazon's consistent title and label. 03 A little guess The customer service also stated that this "complete consistency" refers to the consistency between FBA inventory and ASIN. What does it mean? If you sell a product using a manufacturer barcode, and someone else is selling your product using the same manufacturer barcode, your FBA inventory will be stored together in the Amazon fulfillment center. Regardless of whether you place an order for your product or follow a seller's order, Amazon will only ship the goods from the inventory according to the first-in-first-out principle, regardless of whether the inventory belongs to you or someone else. This is convenient for Amazon to manage, and there is no problem if your products are the same as the ones you are selling. However, if the products you are selling have some defects, it will directly affect your listing. Amazon's requirement that labels and products be consistent is most likely intended to remedy this situation, but it did not expect that it would backfire due to problems with expression. Although the policy that caused sellers to go crazy has been deleted, according to the customer service’s answer, Amazon should still be performing matching work in the background. This is a good change for sellers who are still using supplier barcodes. Other sellers can also rest assured that they will not refuse to allow you to enter the warehouse because the title on your label is inconsistent with the product! 04 Finally, do a little survey I understand that many sellers and operators will be involved in some PS and the production of main pictures/posters/design of A+ pages and brand flagship stores. I have never learned it myself so I feel very uncomfortable (I don’t know how to do it at all (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻) So I want to ask everyone, what kind of art/art design knowledge do you think you need most in your operations? (It may involve the benefits we will provide to everyone later) Vote for the art knowledge you want to learn~ Finally, I would like to give a little benefit to the sellers who participated in the voting.
