In the first half of this year, we talked about a number of cases where European and American governments were trying to intervene in the relationship between Amazon and third-party sellers. For example, US senators proposed to split up Amazon and asked Amazon to stop operating its own business. However, although American politicians are aggressive in their words, their actual actions fully demonstrate the "speed of developed countries". It is unknown how long it will take from proposal to implementation. Unexpectedly, Europe took this step before the United States in restricting Amazon's policy of oppressing sellers. Just yesterday, the first day after Primeday ended, foreign media reported that German regulators and Amazon reached an agreement that would significantly limit Amazon's rights over third-party sellers. 01 Contents of the agreement between regulators and Amazon This new agreement contains a lot of content, so I will talk about two aspects that have the greatest impact on sellers. First, Amazon cannot freeze a seller’s store without any warning or explanation. Under the new terms, Amazon needs to notify sellers 30 days in advance if it wants to freeze a store or terminate sales rights. In the past, Amazon never gave any warnings when closing stores. There were many examples of sellers waking up one day to find their stores had been closed, and some even had vague reasons for being frozen. If a store is to be closed, the seller must be notified 30 days in advance. The benefits of this clause are really huge. Sellers can correct mistakes in time to avoid store closure, and at worst they can be prepared to reduce the losses caused by store closure. second, The new terms give sellers the right to appeal Amazon’s decisions on returns and refunds. In the past, when it comes to returns and refunds on Amazon, no matter what the reason is, Amazon will make the seller bear the loss of the payment for the goods. If the returned goods cannot be sold, the seller can only choose to discard and destroy them. Now, sellers can object to Amazon's decision and ask Amazon to bear the losses. Then the regulator will decide which party should bear the losses. 02 Implementation and background of the terms Needless to say, this new clause signed by the regulator and Amazon is good news for us sellers. So when will this clause be implemented? If it is only the German site, then it will be meaningless. Regulators and foreign media said that this new clause will take effect in 30 days and will not only apply to European sites, but also to the four countries of Britain, France, Italy and Spain and even the United States and Asia. Amazon naturally would not give in. In exchange for Amazon accepting the terms and modifying its service agreement with third-party sellers, regulators in Germany and Austria stopped several investigations into Amazon, some of which lasted as long as seven months. Now that this change has been confirmed to be implemented, Amazon has already notified sellers on the European site of this change via email. Germany has no difficulty in implementing this new clause throughout the European Union. Amazon Europe's email also indicated that this policy will be implemented on all European sites on August 16. However, it is strange that the regulator's spokesperson said that "it is also implemented in the United States and Asia", considering that the relationship between the EU and the United States is currently tense, having just completed a round of mutual sanctions in early July. At this juncture, the EU still wants the US to join it in sanctioning an American company? It's not that simple. In any case, sellers on the European site will be able to enjoy this policy next month. As for whether it will be implemented on the US site, it depends on the subsequent actions of the regulatory authorities. There will definitely be many sellers who are waiting and watching the European site and will enter the European site because of this new policy. Here I would like to remind everyone to pay attention to the VAT tax issues on the European site. If you don’t grasp the costs well, it is easy to find that you are "doing charity" after calculating the profits. You must use a high enough profit margin to cover taxes and various policy costs (such as the new packaging law). I have prepared a high-profit operation skills package for everyone.
