Generally speaking, in order to prevent mistakes in product selection, when we Amazon sellers try new products, we will first test the products by ourselves to see how the market reacts before deciding whether to send them to FBA. Because if sales are not good, storage costs and removal costs will become a problem.


However, Amazon certainly hopes that everyone will use FBA more often. Such concerns make many sellers more cautious when choosing FBA.


So to address this problem, Amazon launched a preferential policy in the first half of the year to waive monthly storage fees for new products, which has been well received by sellers.


Recently, Amazon announced that it will continue to extend the monthly storage fee exemption campaign, which was originally scheduled to end at the end of September, to February 18 next year.

How to participate in the free storage fee activity?


The free storage fee activity has started in March. The participation conditions are actually not difficult. You can participate as long as you meet the following conditions.


1. Inventory performance must be higher than 350 points when participating in the event (it will not be affected if it drops below 350 points after participating in the event)

2. Small standard size and large standard size products

3. Products must belong to the following categories



These conditions are not particularly strict, and I believe most sellers can participate. However, not all storage fees can be waived as long as they are met.


Only the first 100 Asins created during the event can be exempted from storage fees . And each Asin participating in the event can only be exempted from storage fees for the first 50 pieces of goods shipped to the FBA warehouse.


After the newly created Asin meets the above conditions, you can click on the relevant page in the background to participate in the event to complete the registration. You do not need to fill in anything. The system will automatically count the qualified products and then complete the statistics at the end of each month. You will get a reduction when paying the storage fee the following month.


Last time I gave you some suggestions on participating in the event. Now I would like to emphasize a point that some sellers have already suffered losses from - the Asin that can participate in the event refers to the parent Asin. Each newly created parent Asin has a fixed 50 free storage places.


Multiple sub-products under a parent ASIN will share the free quota of the parent ASIN , so products with fewer variants will be more advantageous, and each variant will be allocated relatively more free quotas.


When the event first started, the content alone was definitely good news for sellers. However, this event has been going on for several months. What is the purpose of Amazon's announcement of a delay?

Why did Amazon announce the delay of the event?


The purpose of exempting storage fees for new products this time is actually very obvious, which is to reduce the cost of sellers testing products. Amazon is officially encouraging sellers to try new products. In addition, the inventory that is exempted from storage fees can be removed free of charge , allowing sellers to boldly use FBA when testing products.


Bringing consumers more and better products is what Amazon has always promised as a platform. In addition, this year, major e-commerce and offline supermarket competitors are eyeing Amazon's market share. Amazon has to give sellers some favorable policies to attract them to develop new products and increase the vitality of the entire platform. Amazon can also collect more data from the performance of these new products to identify the current consumption trends in the market at any time.


Now that Amazon is extending the free storage fee promotion, does it really want to give sellers a little more discount? I think Amazon, which only cares about money, really wouldn’t do such a thing, and my brother-in-law would never do something that is not beneficial to him. There is only one reason why Amazon extended this promotion - it did not achieve the expected effect.


Considering the above purpose of the event, the amount of new products brought to the platform after the event did not reach the level that Amazon wanted.


As for the reasons for not meeting the target, I think one reason is that the promotion of the event itself was not strong enough and not many sellers participated in the event . Another reason is that it is not very friendly to small items with low prices, large quantities and many variations. These types of products are the hottest direction for people to choose products recently, so it is inevitable that the effect was not achieved.


Amazon will certainly increase the promotion of this event in the future. If the increase in the number of new products still does not improve, it is not ruled out that some content will be changed to increase the attractiveness of the event, or even more exciting events will be launched to adjust the number of new products on the entire platform .
